Avg. 5 Million per contest. Up 30% from last season. Shouldn't discuss because it is more important to discuss whether Odell Beckham might be on the trade block.

Yes, but according to hockey fans this is all because of social and political awareness.

I like the NBA, but their playoffs still do not out draw the NFL draft.

Sunday's Game 7 Between Boston and Cleveland drew 13 million viewers.

Day one of the NFL Draft drew 11 million Viewers.

The highest rated Game of the Playoffs outdrew the highest rated NFL show of the offseason by 2 million voters despite said show being on 6 different channels.

You are comparing a premier NBA playoff game to the NFL draft and the NBA didn't crush them. That is not helping your argument.

Isn't the NFL Draft the premier event of the NFL's offseason?
Its an Apples to Apples comparison if you ask me.

In fact the NBA finals is the premier event of the postseason and that absolutely crushes the NFL Draft.

The basic point is that this whole notion made on here that "no one cares about the NBA" made by McNeil apologists and NBA detractors is utter B S.

It should be discussed simply because its a major sporting event. Its also an in season sporting event. NFL talk once you get past the draft is utterly uninteresting. NFL talk during this point of the of the offseason should be a non starter.

13 to 11 is not crushing.

If the NBA draft drew 11 million and the NFC championship drew 13 million, what would you say to NFL fans celebrating that?

I said NBA Finals crushes it. We aren't into the Finals yet.

The NFL draft draws huge ratings on the first night then tapers off drastically after that.

The Fact remains that it doesn't make sense to ignore the NBA if you call yourself a sports talk show. People are interested in it whether frequent bashers on here want to admit it or not.

Eastern Conf Finals avg over 8 million viewers per contest.

Should Not Discuss

There wasn't any draft discussion during the Eastern Confernce Finals. What were the ratings of the NBA first round ?

It doesn't matter because the argument was about offseason NFL talk. I never argued as whether the NFL draft should be discussed. My argument was related to offseason talk vs NBA in season.

The argument (rather fallacious i might add) was always that more people are interested in off season NFL than they are in season NBA.

They aren't.

The NFL drafts beats regular season NBA and most of their playoffs.

OffSeason NFL encompasses six months. You can't pick the pinnacle of the NFL OffSeason and attempt to extrapolate it over a six month pd. unless you are going to allow the same for the NBA.

Once you get past the first day of the draft the numbers were weak and it was shown over 6 different channels.

Also my point is regarding offseason NFL. that encompasses more than just the draft. Draft is only a 3 day event.

There should be national NBA talk right now. I do think more people care about NFL free agency in March compared to the NBA playoff race.

In Chicago for sure. Exception would be when the Bulls are good.

The show that talked a lot of NBA lost ratings and was dismantled.

Or when Brian Scalabrine got some playing time.

Yeah but they weren't very good at it and no one can definitively say that it was due to basketball talk. Probably just wasn't a good show.

Waddle Silvy talk lots of basketball too but no one here would ever know it since they don't listen much.

I don't disagree that the NBA has a place. It's not near the NFL, but it does. The show that divvies it up right is Mully and Hanley.

A game 7 featuring The NBA's best and perhaps most polarizing player on a Sunday night on a Holiday weekend barely got better ratings than an out of season NFL event held on a Thursday night.

Waddle and silvy talk Bulls. Very little national NBA.

Yep.

Eastern Conf Finals avg 3 million more viewers than the vaunted NFL draft. How can that be when no one cares about it?

Also polarizing matters not if no one cares about the reason for the polarization.

I'm not saying it should be discussed more than the NFL. I was told that more people are interested in off season NFL than NBA in season.

They aren't. I keep hearing NFL draft as the big behemoth. That really only applies to the first night and the highest rated playoff game outdraws it by 2 mil despite the draft being shown on 6 channels.

You're moving the goalposts, LTG.

Your argument was that the NBA regular season should be talked about more than the NFL offseason. Of course the playoffs are going to have a ratings boost and generate more interest than some NFL happenings. That said, if the NFL announced a big trade, injury, or other transaction tommorow, it would absolutely dominate sports radio and ESPN.

Just last week shows were talking about the NFL players not being able to kneel for the anthem way more than the NBA playoffs.
