Ha, that's the park I umpire at all the time, Ehlert Park in Brookfield. Graduated from grade school and high school with the kid pusher and talk to him all the time at the park. The local Facebook group has been all over this on if he should have done what he did. There's usual group that said they would have kicked the kids ass and his parents should be locked up too and the group on the other side saying they would never touch a kid no matter what and the kid obviously has issues that go far beyond the kind that getting pushed to the ground would fix. What stood out to me is that the kid's in his face for minutes on end and none of the other adults at a busy park do anything to help the guy, too busy filming it on their phones. If some adults stepped up maybe it wouldn't have ended the way it did and that guy wouldn't be plastered all over social media. There's plenty of stuff out there now about the kid too that shouldn't be. |

I'm gonna go ahead and guess this kid is about 13. Who knows what kind of fucked up home-life has conditioned him to think that pushing around a grown man in public is gonna end up in his favor. People probably get killed for much less every day in Chicago. It's just sad. The kid wasn't seriously hurt, AFAIK, but maybe he'll think twice before trying to start a physical fight with an adult again. |

All these liberals who want male role models to be weak, want authority figures to be passive and constantly forgiving and expect every tiny little facet of our lives to be filtered through mountains of litigation....this is what you get. This kid would've been a fuck-up probably either way but at least he'd be trying to channel it into sports or some other thing. Now he's lost. He'll never function like a normal person. |

I do agree if you have five or six male adults questioning the kids behavior he may recognize he is no longer the bully and change approach. It would be interesting to see. Not to kick his ass, just to get him to recognize he is outmanned and is being told to stop...will he stop? It may make him more irrational thinking he is being cornered. Who knows. That's a really unfortunate situation. Options anyone?:Military school, drug him up, Juvy, possible children's forced labor camp...special camp to burn off some of the pent up hostility in physical exertion. Oh, and America just popped in I guess Uber driver is always a possibility as a starter career move.

Near unverifiable Reddit gossip: After the video: the police came, watched the video, and asked the park manager if he wanted to press charges against the child/parents. The felt it was a self-defense case, however, they did advise the park manager not to push a kid like that again for danger of the kid getting hurt. I'm unclear on the details of exactly how, but at some point while the police where still there the mother and the boy came back to the park, they all talked, both the man and the kid apologized to each other, and everyone went on their way. A few hours later, the mother posted a 10-second clip to facebook of ONLY the man pushing her boy down, AND posted the man's name and address. He has a wife and 3 boys ages 18, 15, and 5. Very respected, good, community-minded family. Older boys are very respectful, successful in school and sports, and have good heads on their shoulders. The oldest is going to University of Alabama next year on an academic scholarship, the 15 year old goes to an all-boys Catholic high school and ranks high in his class. Their lives, home, and business has been threatened multiple times. The police advised them to post the full video, for their protection, to try to make sure the whole story is out there. |

It would be hard to restrain yourself there. You can be as logical as you want, but some kid continually getting up in your face would piss you the fuck off. Sounds like this guy did the kid one more favor than his parents ever have. Hope the kid gets help. |

Yikes, this "research" is getting sad. I don't think I am allowed to post this link because there is a lot of swearing and what some may call violent, but if you search youtube for "ehlert park child", you should find it. Admins - if this is not allowed, please delete and accept my apologies! Backstory: The child is about 10 years old, was expelled last month from school after a long history of bullying and violence toward the other kids, culminating in him bringing a knife to school and threatening a teacher and special needs student. Parent and home life is clearly not good. The police have been called to the child's home in the past when the kid was out of control. The two kids had been at the park for several hours earlier that day terrorizing kids at the splash pad and playground. There had been several complaints. In the 25 min before the video, the guy taping was driving down the street to the park when the two kids cut him off on their bikes and flipped him off. He rolled his window down and told the kids to watch it and get out of the street. They swore at him, followed him, and when he parked, the kids started throwing rocks and other things at his car and trying to scratch it with the rocks, cussing and swearing at him and his wife. The man went to the concession stand and found the guy who is the park manager/concession stand and asked him for help. That is the guy with the hat, calling the sister/mom of the boy and getting pushed and punched by the kid. The kids following the guy to the concession stand, where the concession/park manager told the kids to leave and they started swearing and cutting up with him, then left for a minute down the path, threw down their bikes, and came back for more. At that point, the 1st man started videotaping. The woman at the very end of the video, who the kid is swearing at, is this guy's wife. |
