You've got one of the toughest jobs in the world. Having to make quick life & death decisions when your life is in peril. Often unjustly condemned before all the facts are brought out. God bless Chicago and all other police officers.

Stopped, shook their hand and told a couple of Chicago's finest about the same thing outside Soldier Field last year.

Tough job that I don't think I could do day in and day out... Also Firefighters and EMT's. :salut:

It’s bullshit but doesn’t surprise me at all after seeing the same thing happen to soldiers. They even had a cadence chant about it.

They say that in the Army, the pay is mighty fine
They give you a hundred dollars, and take back 99!

People say why didn't the cop go for the taser instead of the gun? Possible your life is in jeopardy 100% of anybody goes for the gun. When you got your driver's license at 16 didn't your dad tell you if you get pulled over make sure the cop sees your hands at all times. Mine did.

I'm sure a good percentage of cops are good folks. Unfortunately I've run into only one. A palatine cop with a distinct sense of humor and didnt fuck with me when he could have.

The body cam showed he had a gun he was reaching for. The cop made the right call.

Almost every video you see someone RUNNING from the Cops. You don't want to get shot, then don't RUN. Not like they walked up to him and shot him because they saw a gun. They tried to cuff him and he ran, reached down for his gun and got shot.

However, did they really need to shoot him? Could have let him run and just took cover behind the Cop car. It's not like they are responding to a shots fired call or an armed robbery in progress. Shooting was not justified, but could have been avoided all together if he would have not ran from the Cops.

You know some Cops have itchy trigger fingers, then stop running you idiots. If you do run and get shot, I have no sympathy for your dumb ass.

Find it interesting that people get enraged and riot a small amount of Cop shootings per year, but don't do the same when the gangs are shooting people. If these same groups went to the streets throwing piss bottles at gang members and jumping on their Chevy Caprice, then I bet you would see a decrease in crime.

the dude had a gun and went for it.

mebbe no reason for cops to stop him initially? no idea. but cops did nothing wrong shooting the guy once he went for his weapon.

Did he go for it or just look like he was reaching for it? He was running in between cops cars and out into the street. To me it looked like he was stumbling and reached down to gain balance. Who knows. We do know he would be alive today if he just would have not ran away.

Yea, I dont know all the details but from what I've seen the only thing you can question the cops on is why they stopped him in the first place, but I guess they noticed the bulge (gun) and were checking him out which seems reasonable.

Also, I gotta say, the sagging pants thing is definitely NOT your friend in these situations. If you have to go to your waist band to pull your pants up after every two steps, it's going to look like you may be going for a weapon.

Fake News. This is an outright lie. It was a handful of people being disorderly. It was not anything even close to a riot.

In the video you can clearly see the gun(s) in his waistband, then he backs up and while doing so, reaches for his waistband. I can't really fault the cops for firing on somebody who does that.

At the risk of not understanding the background or cultural importance of the sag, this. I do get and sometimes even enjoy some fashion choices of the African American community. I do not see any good reason for the pants around the thighs. Especially on guys in their 30s.

One of my customers, Andrew Berlin, is a minority owner of the Cubs, as well as the White Sox and owns the Cubs class A affiliate in South Bend outright. He is also on the Police and Fire commission board for Glencoe and when he heard that the Police officers had to buy their own vests, he purchased brand new vests for every officer on the force there. Great guy. The fact that he recently sold a packaging company for 1.3 Billion dollars probably made it fairly easy to afford. But still, a hell of a nice thing to do.

Signing up a new case today where my client was driving and was broadsided by a CPD officer who blew off a red light, no sirens or flashers.

So nomination approved. Keep driving like idiots and I'll keep paying my mortgage.
