Exactly the type of thing you would expect to hear from somebody who isn't named Michael Jordan.

Wilt was the greatest basketball player of all time. No player dominated his sport more than Wilt other than the greatest of all time, THE BABE.

Muhammed Ali
Mike Tyson
Tiger Woods
Wayne Gretzky
Michael Jordan
LeBron James

I wasn't alive for Wilt or the Babe, but I'd say the dominance of each of these individuals is pretty clear. I guess I'm inclined to agree with Kareem's statement....LeBron has just been more of an outspoken douche compared to Jordan.

Don’t know what you mean. Do what? I’m responding to the quote in the OP.

Of course he would say that. Maybe if Magic didn't carry him for half his titles he could be considered the greatest.

Just so we're clear, if Kareem said word for word his thoughts on GOAT personally to you, that would be your reply?

Not being the best player on a few championships means that you're garbage?

More or less, yes. Words have meanings.

You said Magic carried him so ergo Kareem and Worthy were garbage.

Indeed they do. Especially in context with a bunch of words that have meaning preceding words that you have a problem with. Some would call that cherry picking. Are you a cherry picker?

No, I just believe words have meanings and it's probably good to stick to them. The est suffix is not plural. There cannot be more than one greatest of/at something.

You'd think so, but I'm not so sure how widely accepted that is anymore.

Isn't some of Chamberlain's and Alcindor's greatest based on their height and lack of good competition? For example there were less than 20 NBA teams when the Celtics were winning all their titles.

LISTEN, KID! I've been hearing that crap ever since I was at UCLA. I'm out there busting my buns every night! Tell your old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes!

They had competition. The NBA wasn't littered with 5'11" centers either. Wilt kinda has that Dan Marino and Peyton Manning argument. Ultimately guys who followed them were better.

So you deem his very first thought on GOAT as "ehh, who cares?" His nuanced thoughtful response holds no water with you. Because why? Because you thought it was a good idea to give him a shot backed up by "words have meaning" jargon. How reductive of you.
