... and some fella named José Andrés (but the latter isn't a mult here so screw him). https://edition.cnn.com/2018/07/31/us/jose-andres-guy-fieri-california-wildfires-trnd Chefs Guy Fieri and José Andrés join forces to feed thousands affected by California fires As the Carr Fire becomes the seventh most destructive wildfire in California's history, renowned chefs Guy Fieri and José Andrés are doing everything they can to help feed the evacuees and first responders. "My team and I got involved. My son and his buddies, and a bunch of my buddies, loaded up the caravan from wine country and drove four hours up here," Fieri said. "We are just working arm-in-arm with the Salvation Army, local chefs, residents and everybody helping out all of the evacuees." ........ Two days after Fieri got there, José Andrés' nonprofit, World Central Kitchen, joined him and fellow food first responders, Operation BBQ Relief. "We hit the ground on Monday and started our meal operation today. Guy is heading to the Lake County Fire and we are taking over, and continue the efforts here in Redding," said Nate Mook, Executive Director for World Central Kitchen. With the help of Operation BBQ Relief, Fieri and his team were able to make over 1,000 meals twice a day, Mook said. BBQ Relief, whose main mission is to feed those affected by natural disasters in the United States, has around 30 volunteers and with World Central Kitchen's help it totals to 100 people on the ground to help feed those in need. "We are planning to do 5,000 meals a day or more, depending on the need. We have the capacity and are prepared to cook 5,000 meals a day with no problem," Mook said. Fieri, alongside World Central Kitchen and BBQ Relief, are able to plan where help is needed the most by working with the Red Cross and the Salvation Army, who oversee the incident response. That way they can travel across the state to help everyone affected by the multiple wildfires. "It's unbelievable to see what folks are going through, but it's even more unbelievable just how great this community is, and [to see] all these folks that have come together," Fieri said. Andrés is not in California, but he has been monitoring the situation and will fly in if needed. "We got six chefs in Redding. Depending on the need we will bring more chefs and volunteers. We don't know what the next four days will look like, so he will be paying close attention," Mook said. Andrés recently left Guatemala, where he and his team were able to make more than 325,000 meals for those affected by the volcano eruption last month. Mook said that even though the numbers can look a bit overwhelming, the volunteers get inspiration and passion to help those in need from all the support they receive from the communities. "At the end of the day you just have to start somewhere, and just start cooking, cooking until everyone is fed," Mook said. As for Fieri, he takes pride in all the folks who drop everything just to help. "We're in tough times ... with all of the things going on, you take a moment like this and you really see America is made of a lot of great people coming together," Fieri said. |

Ah yes, nothing better than people coming together to do what's best for Guy Fieri's brand. |

...so he should not help people because of the good publicity its likely to receive? Him doing this is better than MANY people sending thoughts and prayers. |

"When I heard my fellow Americans were going just a few hours without consuming vast amounts of calories in one sitting I knew something had to be done" said the Food Network mogul. "I just want the people of Northern California to know that even if your home is a smoldering ruin that doesn't mean you'll no longer be able to eat 5 or even 6 times as much as your body nutrionally requires" Fieri continued. "The country may be more divided than ever with all that's going on, but I tell ya we will NEVER divide our eating portions amongst each other in a sensible, healthy way." |

Hey Cuntface- let me know when you have four TV shows and 28 restaurants. Now fuck off! |

I don't know if the residents are starving to death, but after just losing their homes having a plate of hot food given to them can be a rare moment of happiness. As for the firefighters, yeah they probably need to eat massive amounts of calories as they expending massive amounts cutting down trees and digging trenches to try and stop/slow the fire's progress. You just posted that this country is "F-U-C-K-E-D" in another thread, yet here is an example of not just a celebrity but dozens of other volunteers trying to help people out in a time of need. I suppose of Jennifer Lopez or another designed was handing out clothing and blankets, you would piss all over that too. A few of weeks ago when it was really hot (end of June maybe?), out garbage cans had not been picked up yet and it was pushing 7:00 in the evening. Finally I saw two trucks coming down our street, and you could tell the guys were just beat. I gave them each a bottle of water and said thanks. Certainly this didn't save the world or anything, but I can tell you from their reactions and with how quickly they drank that water I definitely made a difference for those two guys for that day. Sometimes people do things for their fellow man simply because. Trolling or not, the attitude you seem to have taken going thru your life is a sad one. I hope your outlook and attitude changes soon. |

Unlike Guy, Jose Andres is solid. He helped a couple of hundred thousand of people in Puerto Rico after the hurricane by going down there and starting kitchens. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/30/dini ... -rico.html Turns out Guy had to evacuate his home during a previous fire and had been feeding people that time as well. But Jose has the whole logistical point of view to scale things up. |

He wouldn't piss on these people if they were on fire (heh) but since take an opportunity to appear charitable he's all over it. Couldn't wait to tell the media how great a job he's doing. |
