TORONTO (AP) — Canadian prosecutors dropped a domestic assault charge on Tuesday against Houston Astros closer Roberto Osuna, who agreed to stay away from the alleged victim for one year and continue counseling.

Osuna, formerly with the Toronto Blue Jays, was charged with assault in May. The 23-year-old player was suspended without pay for 75 games for violating Major League Baseball’s domestic violence policy, and the Blue Jays dealt him to Houston on July 30.

Speaking in court, prosecutor Catherine Mullaly said the complainant, who lives in Mexico, had made clear she would not travel to Toronto to testify against Osuna.

“The Crown does not have a reasonable prospect of conviction on this charge absent her testimony,” Mullaly told Judge Melvyn Green.

Osuna nodded when Green asked if he understood the agreement, known as a “peace bond.”

I would need to see the video prior to the scolding. I can sympathize with someone having a child with what sounds like a combination of ADHD and Turretts, but the parents should have some respect for other people too. This was her third game in a week?

damn osuna ended up with houston? shrewd move cuz the kid can pitch... he pretty much showed up on the scene and pitched like he never wanted to go back to the minors and ended up as a setup guy du jour when toronto had some closer issues a few years back and eventually usurped the closer role and never gave it up. IIRC he didn't even have a sophomore slump or anything, he just kept on keeping on until this situation popped up and then he was evidently dead to toronto and shipped off to a team who clearly needs to worry about optics more than baseball cuz i mean, seriously, bringing in a wifebeater who can pitch exceedingly well in the 9th inning? what kind of "world class baseball operation" does that? if there was a god there'd be no world series glory for a scummy team like that!

Assuming the "Enough!" was accurate, you don't ever do that to a kid you don't know. You can ask the parent nicely to control their behavior but it isn't your job to yell at another kid. At a minimum, go ask the usher to intervene if there truly is inappropriate behavior.
