Doing the best with what he has. He isn't responsible for the many bombed picks over the last several drafts. He did not sign Gabriel and Burton, of the combined 195 receptions and 2,448 yards over 8 combined seasons, to be the #2 and #3 receiving threats on offense. He isn't out on the field helping both Bears RB not fumble the ball. He isn't the reason the Bears secondary were the only players able to make tackles yesterday.

He's been out-coached by Mike McCarthy and Adam Gase.
We've seen his offense look very pedestrian and predictable.

I'm not ready to run him out of town, but I have not seen anything to get excited about either.

I will completely agree that Ryan Pace gets the blame and credit for the roster, which has a few glaring holes from first round picks.

The last four Bears drafts have actually been pretty good. Taylor Gabriel isn't a bad wide receiver either, I dont think Nagy's offense really has a specific #1 #2 #3 pecking order of WR options. Players are used in ways they see fit. Sometimes Cohen is the #1 option, sometimes its Robinson, sometimes its Gabriel. Its all very fluid, which is the way the league is going. I dont hate Nagy's scheme. I think he runs a great scheme. The Bears run an offense that is on the NFL's cutting edge.

Nagy is a terrible motivator and gameday coach. He does not care about learning anything about the other half of the ball beyond what familiarity he with opposing defenses to design his offense. I do not think he possesses the motivation to think the championship-winning thought: which is how to halt the cutting-edge offense he is running. Its the same problem Reid has, which is why Reid has never won a title.

Gase out coached Fangio on Sunday, not Nagy. The offense hung 28 points. That has to win you the game.

At some point however, Nagy will have to take care of the Fangio problem or yes, it will become his problem. But right now Fangio needs to deliver Nagy a kick ass defense. The majority of the $$$/high picks are invested on defense. They have to be the bell cow of the team. This year at least.

He firmly believes the Bears will knock one of the Rams or Saints off in the playoffs.

Max was asking who the alpha is on the Bears, and Riddick said it is Nagy.

yeah, when you wanna criticize Mitch's accuracy and point out that he's often throwing to wide/open receivers (a la college football) it comes back to realizing "damn, Nagy can call some plays, eh?"

that said, sometimes he feels himself a bit too much snd you can predict a gimmicky play (read: trickeration-laden run) that's gonna go for negative to ~2 yards max (the kind of stuff that gets OB yelling about how the opponent's are going to remember that (you tried to show them up)... But hey, nobody's perfect and obviously this is some kind of no-shit-sherlock upgrayedd over the old regime of Fox/Loggaints.

Suffice to say it sure seems like the bears have a real coach (read: good, as opposed to "real coach" being antithetical to a "coach" like Trestman) and you certainly hope the instant success doesn't go to his head and taint his development as a NFL head coach.
