I downloaded a song from Napster probably 20 years ago, and haven't been able to recall the song title or artist for the life of me since then. I took a shot in the dark with a vague description of the lyrics, the woman's voice, genre, and BPM and last night I posted on a subreddit asking if anyone might know what I was talking about. After a couple people swung on and missed, one person suggested a band, which led me down a rabbit hole, and after 20 years of missing this song, I found it today on Spotify. People on the internet can be cool sometimes.
:D

I always remember that song because there is a sportscaster here that looks like him. More so when he was younger.

No need to pick on a guy for enjoying a song like that. There's far, far worse material out there. It's not something I would listen to but I think I got the point of how it was put together so it can be appreciated in that regard. Personally, I don't generally give two poops about lyrics - oftentimes imo they're a necessary evil. Plenty of exceptions to be sure.

That said, let's not forget about BRick's objectively mentally-challenged 'maxim' that new music is, by rule, better than old music - reason enough alone to disregard any musical opinion he has.

No.
See, Don....that wasn't his point.
He wasn't 'picking on me' for liking a 'song like that'.
I'd bet good money that he didn't listen to it once.
His point was to arbitrarily shit on someone who finally found something they
were looking for after 20 years and wanted to be happy by telling the story about it.
For reasons unknown, he's taken more than one shot at me recently, and while I assume this is SOP with him,
I don't understand his endgame. I've never had a meaningful discussion with him; either in agreement or argument.
It's just random, and I'm the target this time.
I guess I have to at least tip my hat to him for his dedication to being a complete asshole to strangers on the internet.
It must be a total fucking drag to know him in real life and not have a choice in having him be in your presence.
But this is a message board, and I'll just continue to not give a shit about his motivations. Or his attempts to troll.
But the motivations are obvious, and just because I respond, it doesn't mean it bothers me whatsoever.
My posts might be useless to some, but at least I haven't done it 15 times a day for the last 13 years.....

Here’s betting that you’re matched up against Good Dolphin in next years CFMB tourney next year.

 I am bothering you. Nice post.

By the way, the next time you try and claim you've never has a meaningful discussion with someone and that they are mistreating you don't have their edited quote in your signature.

You actually logged into a message board at 4am on a Thursday and posted that?

I was hoping to just diffuse the situation first and foremost - still, my last sentence stands.

I think I've been paired up against dolphin and won, probably the year I won.

Is that your only response? It's that I was up early today? Well, you sure got me.

Once again, you claim to have never had a meaningful discussion with me and I am mistreating you but you literally edited a post of mine and put it as your signature. Don't get me wrong. I don't really care. I just find it funny that you think you are some innocent victim here.

I wasn't trying to 'get you'.
I was honestly puzzled that a grown man (wife? kids? I don't give a shit) has enough free time to be on a message board at 4am on a weekday and try to get the last word in on a totally irrelevant message board pissing contest that I didn't even start. It's kinda weird.
I never said you "mistreated" me. I never acted like an "innocent victim".
Your sole purpose was to diminish someone's personal happiness.
It didn't work.
I'm sure you'll keep trying.
And when I say we've never had a "meaningful" discussion, I meant they weren't meaningful to me.
Apparently you feel otherwise, but I'm sorry, I just don't like you in that way.
You clearly care about my signature, because you keep mentioning it, so why don't you just fucking change it for me.
You can do that, right?
Have a blessed day.

Our interactions have been so meaningful you felt the need to edit a quote of mine and put it as your signature. Just own it.

I only mentioned it because of your posts in here acting like you aren't any part of this. I hope you do keep it. It makes it more fun to read your long rants in this thread because I said a song sucks.

I didn't need to edit your quote.
I thought it was funny. I don't even remember what thread that would've been from. I don't care. You do, so find it for me.
And what does "acting like you aren't any part of this" even supposed to mean?
Part of WHAT?
I started a fucking thread by posting a shoutout that you had no reason to comment on other than to be a c unt.
You did not listen to the song, and even if you did, I still wouldn't care what you thought about it.
You have absolutely no opinions that are of any value to me.
You're being an asshole, because that is what you do here and that's probably what you are in real life.
Own that.
Jesus Christ, go take a nap, like you said "it was an early morning for sure".

OK.
I don't care.
You didn't win an argument, Rick.
That's what you don't seem to understand.
It wasn't a debate. You have not been proven correct. I have not been proven incorrect.
You started a shitpost message board spat because that's what you do. It makes you happy.
You haven't yet rebuked, disputed or denied any single point of fact I have laid out in this thread.
You can like or not like the song. I don't care. It's not even about the song itself.
It was an anecdote about person a helping person b rediscover something that was important to person b.
You're not getting the reaction you wanted from me, which is why you continue to be irrationally antagonistic toward me.
This is a clear cut case of a person who literally has nothing better to do than TRY to hurt, upset, or piss a stranger off.
It hasn't worked. You have confused me, however.
So before you ask again, I still don't care about your opinions.
I am concerned about your motivations, because I can only imagine how you behave in front of people face to face.
I'm sure it's not pleasant.
