I don't know when this was implemented but it had to have been recently. New apps showed up when we were exploring around and I found PlutoTV, which is a free internet streaming service that provides tons of content (classic Doctor Who episodes, MST3K, Rifftrax, and my favorite--Unsolved Mysteries), and Tubi, which has a bunch of free movies (and even a section specifically called "not on netflix"). this on top of the regular cable service we get definitely feels more worth it to have now. they already offer prime video, hulu, and netflix as apps to use if you have memberships. there's another app that's on there, can't remember the name, but they have a channel that just had "family feud" clips, best of steve harvey, fast money, etc. it was awesome. |

all these streaming options.... it's almost like you're a cord cutter now.... until you get your monthly $200 xfiinity bill in the mail. |

we finally cut the cable last month after a long period testing different streaming options. We have an apple TV on our main set in the living room, with firesticks on a couple other sets around the house. We use YouTube TV for all live programming and Netflix mainly. We have watched a few things on Amazon Prime. When the dust settled, we are paying roughly $70 per month less than we had been before we dropped XFinity cable TV. We are very happy with the decision so far. |

Last night while watching something on the DVR, I discovered their latest update includes smart forwarding...fast forward through commercials, and the show starts back up when the commercial break ends...differentiated by a yellow color during the commercials. Delightful. |

It seems the only roadblock for some is what if any inconvenience they can handle switching around apps. That is usually older folks not savy. Or if the internet supplier makes standalone internet cost prohibitive to have internet only. |

I think there may be some serious splicing together of all those cut cables in the not-too-distant future when the fees for all the steaming services keep going up. |

Delightful. Same, and it was only last night that I figured out that it self-stops at the end of the yellow section. At first I would manually ff it to the end, but discovered you don't have to. It's cool. |

I don’t pay a $200 cable bill but with these added free apps that can be easily accessed it works for me. I watch stations like A&E, ID, Cozi, SyFy and stuff and I haven’t seen any package that includes that along with the live sports channels I have. Sling has been suggested but I’m not that familiar with their pricing. Eventually though it will be tough to get channels because there are going to be more to follow suit with these services like Disney+, NBC, etc. They’re going to buy back their content from the other streaming networks. |

Being able to watch live tv when I'm away from home is a huge benefit. Especially sports. |
