Yes overdue and well deserved. Pitt guy. Marino back then sure had a lot of great protection.

For those innerested, it sounds like Mully & Anus are going to have Jimbo on fairly soon.

Yeah he just mentioned how Jimmy Johnson recruited him to Pitt before he left for OK St.

Mike Hartenstein and Jim Osborne get mentioned appreciatively!

Well deserved and overdue. Good interview.

He was definitely HOF caliber when he played. A little surprised he made it given the short career. That last couple years he had a back.

Yeah I mean, 8 year career, all pro twice , not very good last couple because injuries is HoF worthy? Like I’ve said , NFL HoF is clown showish. You’re only going to play 7 or 8 years you better have Gale Sayers stats and impact.

You’re crazy. Covert was the best o-lineman on the best running team maybe of all time.

I hate Dallas, but Erik Williams and Larry Allen were both better, AND On a better running team.

I said maybe. But it’s worth a conversation. Bears run offense dominated the ‘80s.

Covert absolutely deserved it. He was a b.itch of a left tackle. Long over due.

And an 8 year career is long enough if you're dominate. Which he was. He made the all decade team in the 1980s for christ sake. That means your in. And he finally is.

That means 5 HOFers from the 1985 Bears. McMichael, Hilgenberg and Wilber need to be in as well. And maybe Bortz.

Yeah, he was considered the second best offensive lineman of his time. As has been stated above, the knock on him is the short career.

I’m not arguing that Covert wasn’t great but he did have a short career and was all-pro only two times . There’s a reason it took him this long to get in .Not a slam dunk selection by any means .

They had to slow walk some of the Bears. Didn't want to put them all in immediately.
