They'll probably release a double murderer from prison and put this poor guy in his cell.

Brice has developed an extensive series of safety and hygiene protocols designed to keep both his customers and his staff as safe as possible. They include temperature checks for employees at the beginning of every shift, only seating 30% of the restaurant's normal capacity, replacing common-use items like menus and salt shakers with disposable, one-time only products and regular sanitizing of common touch points like door handles, check presenters and pens.
This seems completely reasonable. I wouldn't even be opposed to a customer temperature check for the time being.

Hey assholes, this is a Houston restaurant owner exercising public disobedience. Can't you jerks at least have enough respect to post it in the Public Disobedience thread that was started by a Houstonian?

I don't know. Maybe he can with take out and delivery? Maybe with a set or limited menu?

Now you're asking too much.

Good for this guy. This is the kind of thing that needs to happen.

I would imagine it will be difficult to stay open if he's only going to maintain 30% capacity.

This is the entire problem with the way things have been shut down and the push for a masked society. It's very difficult to reopen.

At first we closed to "flatten the curve" so hospitals weren't overwhelmed with an expectation that after a few weeks at most we would just go back to living. Then it became something completely different. Staying home is now a religion. And anyone who is pushing back against it is a heretic.

Texas has 29 million people. 600 have died of COVID. California has 40 million people. 1500 have died of COVID.

I'm going to make a prediction. You hear all these governors repeating what is fast becoming accepted wisdom as well as a sort of meme- "We can't just flip a switch and reopen." (Forget about the fact that "Why not?" is a legitimate response.) I will say that there is going to come a time within the next couple months when these politicians realize what they've done and the repercussions of their actions, and they are desperately going to try to "flip that switch". But a large part of the masked American public is going to respond by continuing to hunker down ordering pizzas and watching Netflix as the tax base evaporates and the economy crashes.

As you get McCormick Place, the Javits Center in NYC and Morial Center in New Orleans getting scaled down dramatically, I'm thinking that by the end of the week the soft reopenings will be well expanded. Maybe not in the New York Metropolitan area, but everywhere else that the news will force it imho.

Been working with a company doing projects in Manahattan, and the Bronx.

He said Manhattan is empty comparatively speaking but the Bronx almost looks like business as usual.

He said to look for the next spike there.

I"m just repeating what he told me. I have no idea where it started there.

This guy is cleaning out locations for Covid testing stations in NYC.

Most Midwest states seem to be on pace to start reopening.

They'll keep the "stay at home" order but keep on making it less strict until one day it's just letting Lalapalooza happen.
