Superspreader event!

Quote:
The Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota last month was a coronavirus “superspreading event” that led to an estimated $12.2 billion in public health costs, according to a new study by the IZA Institute of Labor Economics.

Quote:
$46,000 is spent on each patient who tests positive for COVID-19.

 ok now how is this not blatently bullshit when most positive people dont even show symptoms, therefore dont even go to the hospital?

We thank the cyclists for their help in getting us closer to herd immunity.

IF my math is correct, that means that 2.6+million people caught it at the week-long bike rally. That's roughly three times the population of the entire state of South Dakota.

It’s funny no one has a study on the spread of COVID from “ protests” .

Peaceful protesters don't spread it.

Summer of 1985 I worked in a fish cannery in Soldotna, Alaska. One of my high school buddies who went along had an Aunt/Uncle living in Deadwood, SD, right outside Sturgis. We hit them up for a free night's stay on both ends of the trip. The bike week was going on as we drove back to Michigan in August, and we found ourselves in the midst of it. I would have bet money on herd immunity from the Clap back then, before Harley riders were predominantly college graduates.
