If I thought the local mcdonalds soda jerk could pull off the feat, I'd order a carmel and fudge.

I tried it once and it was like I asked them to invent fire

When my grandma was alive she used to order a hamburger with the big mac bun and the quarter pounder onions. She probably caused several hundred aneurysms back then.

In high school, I worked the QPC/McDLT grill (that'll age me), and we HATED it when someone would come through with a special request. It completely fucked up the assembly line process.

ok, can you answer a simple question that has bothered me for nearly 4 decades.

WHY THE FUCK IS THE CHEESE ON THE COLD SIDE??!???!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Can't say for sure but my guess would be cheese sometimes acts as a barrier between the bread and wetter ingredients like lettuce/tomato/sauce to keep the bread from getting soggy. I don't think it works well here.

no one asked you.

That was primarily what it was. The concept behind the McDLT was to keep the hot side hot, and the cold side cold. The lettuce and tomato they felt tasted better or maybe a better word crisper "texture" when cold. Using the piece of cheese, in a non-melted format helped keep that barrier when you mashed them together upon opening that ozone depleting, environmentally killing, styrofoam container. :D

Truthfully, we didn't make many McDLT's, so... Out of a run of 10 - 12 Quarter pound patties, maybe 2 would be denoted for a McDLT. And shortly thereafter they got phased out.

taht doesn't make sense because the cheese was between the tomato and the lettuce and sauce. The only ingredient the cheese kept separated from the bun was the tomato.

You sure you worked at McDonalds? How do you not remember that crucial detail from 35 years ago?

In life I always prefer to ask an expert rather than engage in speculation.

As it turns out you were wrong anyway.

So your grandma was cheap and wanted to pay for a hamburger instead of a quarter pounder?

Well a hamburger and QP are pretty different burger patties. The only part of the QP she got was the onions. so your example sucks.

But yes, my grandma who grew up in the depression was very cheap. She used to get a salad bar, eat it and then go back up and fill the plate again and ask for a to go box. She also used to take the sugar packets off the table and put them in her purse.

Things went downhill when they got rid of those. They kept the burgers warmer and buns moister, longer.

yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes! post of the day!

I've been arguing the same thing for years. Once they got rid of those stryofoam containers it went to shit fast. The food at MCD just didnt taste the same, especially the one item i enjoyed the most there, your simple classic mcdonalds hamburger.
