Sam Smith on the Bulls official website: “Kukoč joins Jordan and Scottie Pippen as the only Bulls players in the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame who played the majority of their NBA years with the Bulls.” Except Kukoc didn’t play the majority of his NBA career with the Bulls. He played 7 seasons with Chicago and 8 with other teams. Edit: okay, when you go by games played, it is a slight majority. |

I'm a huge Toni guy and even I think this is crazy. I think he's getting in based on his cumulative achievements across the NBA and European leagues. Even so, there must be a special designation for people who aren't getting in just on the merits of their achievements in the NBA. Maybe there is. I know it's not the NBA HOF - it's the basketball HOF - but still the presence of guys like Kukoc and others degrade the distinction one receives when being admitted to the HOF. The best I could say about him was that he was a fringe all star when he played in the league. |

It's not a Hall of Fame for the NBA. He's seen as being an important player for raising the level of the game in Europe, and leading the path for future stars to come play here. Also, all Hall of Fames are money grabs with no real standards. |

They need more on their resume to get into the Hall. Otherwise, Christian Laettner would've been a first ballot inductee. There is a specific Hall for college and Laettner is in there, but he's not in the Naismith HOF. |
