The Tulsa Riots were spearheaded by W. Tate Brady..a Democrat (and Klansman) ...go figure.

Funny how the 100 year old Tulsa Riots are the top of the news. The riots last summer didn't happen, and everyone from them needs to have charges dismissed.

I don't recall hearing about it until sometime in the last 20 years.

I found it during some type of Wikipedia rabbit hole back in the mid 2000s. Definitely didn’t hear about it in school.

I think my initial reaction was thinking it wasn't true because I hadn't heard about it.

You wouldve been amazed at how few stories had been told until the 80s and 90s.

I mean hell, people were still lying about Fred Hampton until the 90s.

I think I leaned about it from the watchmen show off of HBO.

I think there was a paragraph or two dedicated to it in one of my high school history text books in the early 2000s.

I thought it was interesting both Watchmen and Lovecraft Country had plot lines and/or episodes devoted to the event last year.

What is the federal nexus for this to be a plea for federal reparations?

I see that the producer is analogizing it with the 9/11 victim fund. That is a disaster relief fund. I can see issuing money as disaster relief. Framing it as reparations implies an injury caused by the repairing party. Did the federal government play a role I am not aware of? Educate me if I'm ignorant of facts

i went to hs in the early 80s and the 'general' american history book glossed over this early 20th century event and in chicago with a few sentences. characterized as 'race riots'.

i found out more about tulsa from other blacks at work a few years later - talking about the GAP band. the GAP band was from tulsa. since then, i've read much more about american history - the good and bad.

He was drinking tittie milk. It definitely had a bigger impact on his sister -the woman who spoke first- because she was 7 or 8 at the time.

Not surprising to hear that a lie from a woman was responsible for this.

I imagine Woodrow Wilson probably would have okayed it by telegram in between viewings of Birth of a Nation.

He'd probably sent out blanket authorization across all branches.

Are you talking about the girl in the elevator? I hadn’t heard her accused of lying before.

Yep! Something about a kid tripping and bumping into her. A female clerk got him arrested for assault. That meant that the men needed to be "men" and protect the women.

I got interested in this after that Coates reparations article. Like many (it seems), I didn’t hear a whole lot about Tulsa back in school. I vaguely recall a reference or picture in a textbook, but nothing that really went into it in sufficient detail.

Anyway, I read some book about it and thought the story was that the girl would not press charges as she said it was a minor interaction. Speculation was either that he bumped into her accidentally or that they were in a relationship. The local dynamics, a recent lynching, racial relations, etc. all kind of created a powder keg.

That radical left has been behind instigating radical race riots for over 100 years now....sad!

The radical left instigated the Tulsa race riots knowing that 100 years later they would be able to shame people into paying reparations to the people they themselves victimized. A dastardly cunning plan.

Southern Democrat and Klansman went together back then. Not surprising.

This is actually an interesting story divorced from modern day politics, gents.

Here’s the book I referenced: https://www.amazon.com/Burning-Massacre ... 0312302479

Story gets watered down into racist whites vs. victimized blacks but there’s a ton of depth to it.
