Guy knows what he's doing w/ these trades. Thought he was just a guy who gets Theo's coffee. Proved me wrong.

I love it. Unpopular opinion maybe, but all of this is 2 years too late.

4 years too late.

They held on to everyone too long. The only guys they traded high on were the three relievers.

I probably would have DFA’d Kimbrel a long time ago, that they got anything, let alone a good deal for him, is impressive.

This is about Hoyer, Epstein held onto these guys too long, Hoyer launched em.. shoutout stands

Yeah the Kimbrel turnaround was impressive. Frankly, Hoyer built a fantastic bullpen, and it is a shame the rest of the team underperformed.

Bullpens are strange things. Based on their finish to 2020 and the addition of a closer, the Sox looked to have among the best in the league coming into the season and they immediately underperformed. Same happened in 2006.

I don't know about 4 years. They ran into a really tough Dodgers team in '17.

95 wins the next season. Impressive, considering Darvish's weird year. But those 2 losses in 2 days at the end sealed it.

from all the trade grades ive seen, the Cubs' moves and returns were ranked among the top

They did fine...considering. But in a vacuum(of history), they got kinda hosed. The timing was ALL WRONG unfortunately.

They could have cleaned up if they traded one of these guys or Babe 3 or 4 years earlier.

At least there were plenty of teams who think they have a shot...so the Cubs got something. They can always try to get the band back together after the season...which I hope they won't. This recipe of free swinging mashers was/is not the answer.

He doesn't deserve a shoutout for this. All he did was do the obvious thing. Like I've been saying for a month.

My cracker ass could have done this. And I'll bet I would have gotten better kids in these trades.

He deserves a shoutout from the highest mountain top for not signing any of those guys to awful long term deals. Now it was them declining his original offers that led to them not signing but he gets credit for not increasing the offer and then sending each and every one of them on their way for a decent return. Now if only he could do something with that god damn boat anchor Heyward. I would sit that mother fucker every single game until he demanded a trade but he doesnt seem to give a shit about doing anything other than cashing checks so he would be fine with that.

He copied the White Sox model, which the White Sox copied from the Cubs and Theo who ruined the entire game of baseball by making the only defensible way to run a team to be either really good or really terrible.

So, shoutout to Jed!

the only way to maximize return on a fielder is to trade him with multiple years while he is still cheap

pitchers seem to be the prize of the trade deadlines in these times

Teams that draft well and have money don't tank. Some teams that don't have money still don't tank...Oak and TB. Tank people have been screaming at SF for years.

Cubs didn't have to tank. I agree that they did though because they weren't well run for 4 years. They didn't draft, they didn't sign their assets, and didn't trade well. All that is on The.Very.Smart.Person.
