This will go well. Politics aside. But, kudos to him. He was a dynamic public speaker. Even a young Ken was caught up with his oratory. It's unfortunate to see time catch up with everyone. I know he is ill but...still impressive that he puts himself out there to speak. He spoke at my college graduation. |

I've posted this here before: I used to take the last non-redeye from LA to O'Hare four or five times a year, got in at 1AM. One time about four years ago Rev. Jackson and an assistant were on the flight. Clearly on a day trip, no luggage (I went down to baggage claim, they didn't). He was in first class as was I and I can tell you it's still exhausting. Everyone respected his privacy and other than talking with the crew nobody bothered him. He gets off the plane, at 1am, and every single airport worker on the overnight shift stopped when they saw him, and went up to him. He stopped and greeted each one. Obviously tired, but obviously caring. We were at the last gate at O'Hare's H concourse so it's nearly a half mile to the exit. He must have greeted 20 people. At 1am. One can disagree with his politics. It's hard to disagree with his effort. |

He's basically a Daley with more polished (but not necessarily more effective) oratorical skills. He's done good, he's done bad, he's done rich. |

NY Post 11-10-99 Jackson himself tried to turn the tables on his critics back in 1984, when he was quoted (by a black reporter) as having privately referred to Jews as “Hymies” and New York as “Hymietown.” For two weeks, he denied even having made the remarks; finally he admitted it, offered a limp apology but complained that he was “being taken advantage of.” |

Minister has mistresses, out of wedlock children by them. Tax exempt status. Shady finances. Worth 9 million. Uses the race card to strong-arm corporations. Could of been a huge boost to his community to uplift them instead of using them to milk the system. |

Really a stupid post by Dr. Kevin. The real Jackson to give a shoutout to is Reggie. Reggie Bars were fantastic! I had my first one at a baseball card convention near O'Hare and my second one at a traveling all-star game in a suburb somewhere. Great candy bar; not in the god-tier like Snickers and Twix, but just a shade below. Probably not quite a Reggie Jackson of a candy bar; more like a Vlad Guerrero, which is still high praise. |

I went to that convention at the Hyatt Regency O’Hare every year with my brother in the early/mid-80s. Got Ed Farmer’s autograph. Learned later he wasn’t actually a farmer. |

I think I met you and RR about eight times in my life. |
