No one asked for them to do this. How popular is Road America to Nascar? The race this year was a snoozefest and this was only the second year on the schedule. Nascar doesn't want to add anymore road tracks so taking the one from the Midwest that had no history was an easy choice. Whatever happens next year, the race will unlikely be worse than this year's 4th of July Nascar race at Road America. I'm just hoping I can get close enough in my boat on Lake Michigan to watch some of the race. Fishing in the morning, catching some smallmouth on the Lake, and then seeing some Nascar on Lake Shore Drive would be a helluva morning. |

All joking aside....as a pure spectator, this looks pretty fucking awesome. Logistically, the thought of attending it in person looks miserable, but I'll definitely watch on TV. I'll defer to the official city of Chicago residents to opine if this will be worth the price tag. I would imagine the friends of Lori and the Chicago Alderman are going to love it.

I've never gone to a road course but I can't imagine it is nearly as good as being at an oval. I've been to probably 20 races at Chicagoland and Michigan and as long as you are sitting high enough you can see all the action everywhere on the track. On a road course you'll see a couple corners and a straightaway. If you are actually wanting to watch the race, stay home and watch it on TV. Like I mentioned earlier, I plan to be on the Lake and then I'll watch it when I get home. I'll go there Saturday and check out qualifying and the IMSA race. Personally, I wish they came back to Chicagoland. |
