Well it is good that a company saw that they can take action if they want to and not rely on some giant overreaching government ban. This, however, requires a wait and see because they may get pressure again and evolve back the other way, again.

This is not the first time Dick’s has made changes in response to a school massacre. In 2012, after the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, Dick’s removed assault-style rifles from its main retail stores. But a few months later, the company began carrying the firearms at its outdoor and hunting retail chain, Field & Stream.

This really is a great move by Dicks Sports. My hope is that more mainstream Republicans will continue to see the importance in distancing themselves from the Gun-Nut/NRA extreme wing of the Republican party.

Also changing the name to Pussy's Sporting Goods.

I like how we go batshit insane if someone has a couple beers and drives home... But massing piles of assult weapons is clearly no big deal.

i've never seen 1 person shopping at a dicks for firearms. and since ours is attached to the mall, i'm hiding from wife and children in dicks all the time. putting some balls, looking at fishing equipment, etc, etc. in fact its quite frequently that i feel i'm the only person in the store. by a look at its stock history, it seems this might be some sort of gasp before they start closing stores.

I buy ammo there occasionally.
I'll go to Big R now instead. Or Wal-Mart. Or online.
Not because I'm offended they stopped selling ARs. Because I'm disappointed they decided to use this situation as a chance to gain publicity. They did this once before as well, some may recall. And quietly just sold them again when the noise died down.
Screw these guys. Only thing worth buying at a dicks was ammo anyhow.

Are they stopping the sale of the AR and AK rifles that look like military automatic weapons?
I know that they don't currently sell automatic weapons. No one does.
This makes no sense to me.

They aren't selling any semi-automatic rifles. No Mini-14s, no AKs, or similar models.

Maybe because there are far more DUI related deaths than homicides by firearm. And most homicides by firearm are not committed by people who mass piles of assault weapons. Most are committed by someone who gets access to a stolen handgun.

Good business opportunity to do a competitor to them that only sells guns to people who need these types of weapons. You can call it Small Dicks and they'll flock to it to make up for not having normal sized Dicks to use.
