For pointing out there are only 30 big league announcers and 127 games is not acceptable. It's not a part time job and it shouldn't be treated as such.

agreed. I'm not sure what they pay but it has to be sufficient to be exclusive. I've never really understood the days off concept for baseball announcers. It's 162 days of easy work.

It's not some insignificant amount, either. That is almost a quarter of the season the guy is demanding off.

If missing a third of the games is unacceptable how come they keep Moncada and Eloy

What about guys like Brian Anderson for the Brewers that also work the National scene.

No, I don't like it when our brewers don't have the regular voice covering games

Benetti leaving or doing national games isn't the issue. The problem is the entire White Sox organization as a whole and regardless of this being coincidence or not, this is another move that screws over the fans and just plain fails the eye test. You have to view this move within the context of what the Sox have done since the Astros whitewashed them in the 2021 ALDS.

The Sox are almost assuredly going to hire somebody that is worse than Benetti.

I don't like the narrative that the SCORE has been spewing. That all SOX fans love Benetti and this is horrible. It's not. I didn't love him. I just thought he was fine. Bernstein says that he is objectively funny. No. He's not. A lot of his attempts at humor fall flat. I know he's smart and that's why Bernstein loves him. Having multiple degrees doesn't really matter when doing baseball games.

He was just fine. That's all. Could the next guy be worse? Of course. But I think in this day in age the guys they hire for the MLB jobs are all pretty much the same.

And yeah, if Jerry Reinsdorf is mad that the guy leaves his full time job for part time jobs, I get that.

I'm sorry you got backed into a corner by the likes of a Jason Benetti.

Has got a horrendous Cubs podcast where he drops the demonstrative act and is himself. Had Bruce Levine on for his baseball "expertise". A praise fest. First they started off praising Levine. Then, Levine praised Ross, Counsell as a manager and player, Hoyer, and even Counsell's agent. This took up half the podcast before talking baseball.

most of these sports podcasts devolve into the podcaster interviewing another podcaster as his expert. We are in a strange time in media where access to the business has been democratized but it has resulted in a worse overall product and lower wages for all. I guess it is good that it has allowed a few quality people to have voices that would otherwise have gone unheard.

Media is currently like one of the last scenes in Boogie Nights, where they bring young people off the street to do gonzo porn.

1) Levine is an asslicker B) I've forgotten more about baseball than he'll ever know

You are correct but it has been going in this bad direction for some time. Some time ago I realized just how insular the circular, insulated twitter crowd ruled the airwaves. The happened when the callers were forced off and even previously anti social media type Bernstein had to give every "guest" an intro including twitter handle etc.

Score podcasts are inserting unannounced commercials right in the middle of conversations and even words to catch the listeners off guard not prepared to fast forward.
