One of the most dominant runs in the history of sports. 112-4 record at the French Open. Only lost to 3 players over the course of his run.

Been such a pleasure to watch him.

I mean, from a tennis perspective, you can still use the present tense to describe my game. Some may say my best days - again, strictly in terms of a professional tennis career - are ahead of me.

He pretty much said at the end of his match today that this is likely his last match at the French Open.

It’s not like this was posted in the RIP section. The shout out is justified. He’s probably going to retire at the US Open. Or maybe in the next few weeks.

I always thought tennis players were pansies, then I had a work event at something called the Laver Cup at the UC several years back. First time I ever really saw how athletic those guys are, as well as how fast the ball moves. They’re incredibly talented.

With that in mind, I wish Nadal well in both death and retirement, hoping that the former comes long after the latter. Hopefully being an extremely wealthy European athlete living in a temperate climate translates to an above average quality of life in his later years.
