But Hossa was integral to three championships while Roenick wasted a good chunk of his prime on Phoenix teams that couldn't get out of the first round and that no one was watching. I disagree. He was always one of the best forwards in the game. Didn't have the team success, but played a much tougher game than 90% of the other scoring forwards in the game. Scored over 500 goals. There's only a few players with over 500 goals who aren't in the hall not counting guys still playing. Even had nearly 30 shortys. He's one of only 11 500 goals scorers in NHL history to have at least 28 shortys.

If it wasn't for his big mouth he would've gotten in sooner.

the story is....friends since thayer academy amonte and his wife kinda/sorta took sides when j.r. and his wife were having troubles - including tricking on j.r.'s naughty behavior.

roenick got amonte back good with a wicked slash in the face/some 15-20 stitches that took amonte out and cost roenick 5 games and basically his friendship with the amontes.

that's the story i heard. his speech saw him once again apologize to amonte and his wife. seems as though they've made up a bit, through the years. i do believe that amonte will never talk to mike keenan again for degrading and humiliating him in front of his rangers teammates and subsequently running him out of new york during it's cup winning year - while j.r. told us his urinal/genitals story and his endless love for keenan during his HOF speech.
