One of the best Gameday guests in memory. Talking shit to Nick Saban directly in his face at his job and making him look bad for taking umbrage…chef’s kiss. |

Arkansas is very far from poor, Walton Money, Tyson Foods Money, Hudson Foods Money, Jerry Jones Money, J.B Hunt Money, etc all spend very well. I am not sure any school wins more National Championships than they do in men’s and women’s athletics. |

Genuine question: why hasn’t the Arkansas money already bought a real college football team? Seems like something Jerruh would do without thinking twice. |

Why hasn’t T.Boone Pickens or Phil Knight bought one. Why haven’t the Dodgers only really had 1 World Series or he’ll look at the Yankees. Any other questions? But please feel freedom to look at all of the other National Championships they win on a yearly basis, pretty cool. |

The Yankees can’t get over the hump but are consistently good. Arkansas has won 10 games 3 times in the past 35 years (OK St. has done it 8 times in the past 15 years). I’m not trying to insult them, I’m genuinely curious if these billionaires aren’t trying to buy a football program or if they are trying but aren’t good at it. |

Do you think these are the only schools that have billionaires behind them? Of course not. But very few schools can match Walton wealth, not even counting all the others. This is the rare occasion where I’m not trying to be a dick. Are those guys handing out huge NIL money? |

I think you underestimate how much money is out there and what people are willing to spend for their emblem. For instance, BYU just got the Number 1 basketball recruit in the country, supposedly north of $5M, who is paying that? |

You’ve pointed out a thing. Boone Pickens gave hundreds of millions of dollars to Okie State. He had one Big 12 title to show for it. Texas A&M has been talking for years about how much money they have. A&M is at best a second tier football program, maybe third tier. Every major school has money, every major school. Everyone is on the same footing more or less with money. It’s coaching first and foremost, program leadership, and then a close second is the incalculable value of being a historical power. That’s why when Texas hires the right coach they vault to a national power, and why Va Tech could take 15 years of the great Frank Beamer to grind their way to national prominence, and it’s gone in 4 years. |
