Food Fight! Anthony Bourdain Disses Paula Deen, Calls Her "Dangerous to America Thu., Aug. 18, 2011 9:25 AM PDT by Marianne Garvey Celebrity chefs Paula Deen and Anthony Bourdain have their well-sharpened knives away from the food and aimed at each other. In one corner, we have the globe-trotting No Reservations host, Kitchen Confidential author and adventurous eater Bourdain. In the other, we have plump Georgia peach Deen, who's famous for her buttery cooking and dessert displays on the Food Network. Which, apparently, Bourdain has a real issue with. So much so that he's calling her a danger to us humans. So what's he saying? Bourdain, known for not holding his tongue about much at all when it comes to cooking, tells TV Guide that Deen isn't helping anyone's health with her horrid cooking, saying because of her fatty, calorie-laden meals, she's "the worst, most dangerous person to America." Really? Most dangerous to America?. The feisty Bourdain didn't stop there. "She revels in unholy connections with evil corporations, and she's proud of the fact that her food if f--king bad for you," he said. "I would think twice before telling an already obese nation that it is OK to eat food that is killing us. Plus, her food sucks." In the past, Bourdain has also famously attacked mac 'n' cheese maker Rachael Ray, whom he didn't spare in this rant, either. "Does she even cook anymore?" he asked. "I don't know why she bothers. To her credit, she never said she was good at it. I feel bad that she still feels compelled to cook." No word yet on what Deen has to say about her chef-turned-terrorist status, but no question this is a serious food fight. Thank you Mr. Bourdain. The world needs to be made aware of the evil that is Paula Deen. |

I'm a big fan of No Reservations. One of the best shows on TV. |

Reminds me of Andrew Sullivan and his obsessive Hillary-n-Palin hate. |

What just a minute there, bros! Tony's a cool guy and he's welcome at Tex Wasabi's any time, but I think he may have fried his brain with cocaine and bourbon back when he was workin' for a livin'. I mean, I saw a No Reservations episode where he was gobblin' down beer cheese and rabbit kidneys and it didn't look too healthy to me, but whoa, what ever floats your boat, dude. I'd prefer he stay off my girl Paula's ass, but if I can't convince him, I guess there's room enough for both of us. |

Bourdain has the best opening theme song of any show on TV. Well, the best band playing it anyway.... |

I don't know which was more disgusting...watching Bourdain swallow a still-beating snake heart that had just been sliced out, or seeing him try to eat a duck embryo that was almost ready to hatch (he seemed to be having a hard time getting past the feathers). |

Apparently, there's more: http://popwatch.ew.com/2011/08/19/paula ... dain-feud/ Quote: Paula Deen and Anthony Bourdain are at war by Annie Barrett Categories: Bitchery, Celebrity Feuds, Food and Drink, Hell to the No!, Television, Things That Are Classy, Wait Are People Robots? I apologize in advance that this post will not feature a video of Deen and Bourdain wrestling to the death in a big-ass vat of butter. Nope, all that happened is that Anthony Bourdain called Paula Deen “the worst, most dangerous person in America … plus, her food sucks” in an interview for TV Guide. The No Reservations star also slammed Deen’s fellow Food Network chefs Rachael Ray (“Does she even cook anymore?”), Sandra Lee (“I hate her works on this planet, but she is not someone to be dismissed, clearly.”), and Guy Fieri (“I look at Guy and I just think, ‘Jesus, I’m glad that’s not me’”). how did this one get missed? First of all, can we just revel for a second in “I hate her works on this planet?” Thank you. Seriously, who knows how many other galaxies Sandra Lee is ‘botting out on right now. Deen has fired back with a viscous stream of cholesterol and words! Her beef with Bourdain? He’s moody and not charitable enough. “My good friends Rachael, Guy and Sandra are the most generous charitable folks I know,” Deen told Page Six today. “They give so much of their time and money to help the food deprived, sick children and abandoned animals. I have no idea what Anthony has done to contribute besides being irritable.” Deen went on to explain the way the world works: “”You know, not everybody can afford to pay $58 for prime rib or $650 for a bottle of wine,” she said. “My friends and I cook for regular families who worry about feeding their kids and paying the bills.” Whatever, you guys. It’s not about who’s the better person. We’re talking apples vs. oranges here, or sour grapes vs. a $650 bottle of wine. Can you please just smear a cream cheese pound cake stuffed with steak au poivre all over each other’s faces and then casually make up? Or at least settle this feud on camera… in the Iron Chef America kitchen. I’ll judge. Now go. The best parts are bolded |

I didn't appreciate Mancow's presence on the show, either. What else would you have changed? |

I sure wouldn't have included Burt's Pizza in Morton Grove, which I think is tasty but garners attention only because a group of foodies on lthforum.com romanticize Burt's status as an obscure and unappreciated pizza genius. In truth, his pies aren't as good as the more popular and more widely available Lou Malnati's. I'm not sure I would've even included Pizza in the show. To me, omitting something like Maxwell St. Market was a huge oversight. The Market really captures some interesting aspects of the city's culture and helps illustrate that its dynamism begins with immigrant culture.....Speaking of which, some of the Polish delis on Milwaukee Avenue also should have been part of the show. |

I didn't appreciate Mancow's presence on the show, either. What else would you have changed? Finally made a long desired stop to Cemitas Puebla for an Atomica & chalupas. Amazing. I will now get into better shape so I can have one of those a month. I ate half of the meal in the car (transition was on), and thought about pulling off the Kennedy to finish it off in a fit of pure, unadulterated gluttony. Thank God I didn't. The grabber would have gotten me. And to think that 3 hrs. ago I'd never had a pork chop I really cared for....and then two on that one sandwich. Two a month would cheapen the experience. That meal screwed up my dinner plans. My wife and kids will now have to fend for themselves or get carry out on their own. If my wife's late, I may give my underage son the keys to the car for his second driving experience. It will just be me, my Cemitas' leftovers and several caipirinhas. Bliss. |
