Incredible! Almost six hours of play -- the longest grand slam championship match in history. ESPN2 was supposed to start showing the replay of the match at 8 a.m. -- but the match was still at least 30 minutes from its conclusion. What a time for men's tennis: Federer (16 slams and the record holder) Nadal (10) and Djokovic (five). Trying to think of another sport that had at least three players at this type of level at the same time. Baseball -- Mid to Late 1950s: Mantle, Ted Williams, Mays, Aaron. Football -- Late 50s early 60s: Jim Brown and Johnny Unitas -- cannot think of a third. Men's golf -- Mid-60s: Gary Player, Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer |

Federer-Nadal was fun, but it you knew it would swing from Federer dominating (except at Roland Garros) to Nadal dominating pretty fast because of the 5 year age difference. Nadal is only a year older than Djokovic and they're 25 and 24. This is gonna be awesome for a while. I've liked Djokovic since he beat Donkey Tsonga in 2008. |

There was a Federer v Tipsarevic Australian Open match from a few years ago that was really good too...but it was quick 4 hours and something match. Federer/Nadal at Wimbledon and Federer/Roddick at Wimbledon the last couple years went about 5.5 hrs each. |

Djokovic is almost as bad a match-up for Nadal at this point as Nadal has been for Federer. |

No. Just based on styles; Djokovic is able to punish Nadal's backhand with heavy balls the same way Nadal has been with Federer for years. I must confess though that I did not find this match as enjoyable as most. The tour as a whole is too damn slow these days, which has really hurt point construction and simply turned matches like this into battles of baseline attrition. |
