Now he shows up in the NBA and rather than being treated like any other guy who just dropped 38 on the Lakers, he's viewed as some exotic creature. That's racism. That's the basketball culture at work. I'm sure there are people here who believe blacks are inherently superior at hoops. I know our favorite radio hosts do. And within the structure of organized basketball blacks have power that they lack in our larger society. Racism. The big difference is that Jeremy Lin can walk out of that gym and he isn't facing racism. Black people can't walk out of their lives. |
