Batting .318 with a .357 OBP. He's the leftfielder you always want to replace but the new guy will rarely be as good as he was.

I don't miss him either. That's kind of my point. But you probably won't replace him with a better guy. The only thing saving Viciedo from being savaged by fans and the media is that Beckham, Morel, and maybe Alexei have been even worse. Pierre isn't "bad at baseball". He just isn't a power hitter. When every guy was juiced out of his ass it was real easy to forget that there was once a place for a corner outfielder like him.

That is why I've maintained that much of the SABREshit was based on bad data from the steroid era. You know, like when players like Brett Boone were putting up Mickey Mantle type numbers. The homerun made much of the stats they now look at. Pierre was never "bad at baseball", he just wasn't a roided up freak.
