"My favorite part was when he didnt say anything for about an inning and a half, then he says 2-0....what about the other 15 pitches?"

Samardzija!

While we all know this will piss off the 5 Sox fans (know what I mean Frank  ), fact is that this guy is becoming the voice this team and is about to become the most popular baseball player in this city if he continues to back it up. The kid loves the cameras, always has a quote for them now and many of them seem to be kinda funny.

Now, just got to go out there today and back it up.

It was funny and not over the line. He sandwiched it with compliments.

Not sure about most popular player in the city, hope he keeps pitching well though

Oh, a Hawk doesn't speak sometimes joke?

Maybe Chris Sale can make a 1908 joke for retribution.

"About" to become....Can't compete with all those Sox personalities? And K Wood? Paulie is appointed Mr Sox and he is gone next year, he will be moving back to California. K Wood, as public as he is, still is really not a personable guy, it always feels like he is forced to talk when he does on the air.

Big tall good looking guy, good personality combined with a really good season on an up n coming team. This city is his for the taking. D Rose has no interest in being that guy, Kaner?

Actually it was for 1 and 1/2 innings. And who is joking?

I do love when Sox fans get insulted by this fact...lol...

Or a favorite is when Hawks needs the extended potty break and comes back to the booth in the middle of an inning? Or did they move the booth closer to the bathroom this year....way easier than relocating the plumbing.

Put that one on the shelf next to the attendance trophy.

Why would Shark becoming popular upset Sox fans?

Cubs have always had the more popular players. Not better necessarily. Just more popular.

No one cares.

As I said yesterday Q...only the manliest of men are single, live in Wrigleyville, and call Cubs pitchers "good looking"

Great line by the kid with the "ponytail"?
Hawk's angst-filled commentary Friday was priceless. A great listen!

Lot's of who you crapping in this thread.

Isn't he up for free agency at the end of this year? I'm sure he wants to go through this cultural rebuilding led by glorious leader. Who wouldn't want to have to pitch shutouts every outing for the next 2 years in order to hope to get a win.

Cubs have control over his rights, (Arb) 2013 and if you heard the interview, it's quite obvious he wants to be here.

The guy is a fixture on Southport in the summer (Newport Bar and Grill)

Plus, he is kinda funny. Just a Chicago fan.

All the above is great and is icing for him and the Cubs organization, but first and foremost he needs be a really good pitcher.
