Nothing like a run through the minor leagues to bring a sinking ship back into contention.

Can you explainthe metaphor?! A cub minorleague team would probably put up at least a little fight.

Iowa probably would have beat the Sox 2 out of 3.

and Cubbie fans could name every player in the lineup. They should rename Des Moines, "Hope, Iowa"

Just bolded the part that makes it automatically tougher than any NL division.

Was wondering when you would chime in...you did a whole lot of chirping during the world series last year...how'd that work out?

It was a fun series. If the Sox don't make it() hopefully it'll be a rematch.

On this we can agree.

Supported....I think interleague play is wonderful. It gives fans the chance to see the great players they otherwise would never see if not for interleague play (for those players playing in the "other" league)even if it's only every few seasons. Plus, it gives fans many other ballparks to go visit and still see their team play there. In many ways (as Mike North would say) it's a beautiful thing!

Thirty years ago, what you say would be true. Now I am able to see any game at anytime I wish.

Interleague Play...lose it.

Well, the Yankees won a whole lot of World Series in the 50s and 60s when the NL was clearly the far superior league.

Sure, you can see any team on television. I am talking about seeing any team (and exceptional players on it) you want at your home ballpark. Also being able to travel (such as Cubs/Twins June 8-10 this season) to see a team you may never have seen before at THEIR ballpark and still get to see your team play there as well. Appeals to me...

NL - 18-24 against the AL

The gap has closed considerably in the last 5-6 years

I'm not disagreeing but it's pretty telling that your first example of how the NL has closed the gap is a sub .430 winning % this season against the AL.

It has, but then the 2 biggest sluggers in the NL left for the AL this past offseason.

So is bragging about being 2.5 games out of first in a division containing 1 team over .500.

Well, it used to be a HUGE Image difference

Frank, I think it started swinging the other way around 06-07. If you look at certain free agents and the interleague records, it started sometime around then

Interleague lost it luster a while ago. It was an interesting experiment at first but now it is just meh. Baseball not playing interleague was one of its fun quirks.

You can brag about interleague. I will worry about the World Series.

You're correct to be worried about the world series (delusional is a better word), but who was bragging?

An OK team couldn't beat a shitty team. Big deal.

Considering the team for which I root won last year's World Series, I'm not worried at all.

The American league won interleague play 142-110 for a .563 winning percentage. This is the 9th consecutive year the AL has had the better record in interleague play.
