It's amazing how someone with no history of coaching experience wins a series. Does this mean his job is safe?

I thought he was the coach of some other team before he was the coach of this team. In any event, he's still no damn good.

Yeah, how 'bout that?! Why didn't Vinny do that when he coached the Bulls for 2 seasons, but overcame big time odds yesterday when his Clippers won Game 7 in Memphis? I heard a stat yesterday in which 81% of home teams usually win a Game 7.

I'm not so sure the Clippers beat the #1 seed Spurs in the Western Conference Semifinals. However, don't be shocked if L.A. wins Game 1 tomorrow. The Spurs might be a tad rusty after San Antonio was off for 10 days after disposing of Utah 4 and out.

Don't be shocked if the Lakers beat the Thunder tonight in Game 1 for the exact same reason. This is OKC's first playoff game since disposing of the now former NBA Champions from Dallas 4 and out. 9-10 days off...Both teams might be flat as pancakes to start.

Is Vinny as bad a coach as people make him out to be?

I don't follow the NBA, but it seems to me Vinny's Bulls teams were basically an average team talentwise. I don't recall the pundits predicting the Bulls to win 50+ games with players they had.

They finished .500 both seasons and lost to vastly more talented teams in the first round, they gave a much bettter Boston all they could hande that one year.

This year the Clippers won their third playoff series in 40 some years. Do people expect the Clippers to make the conference finals, let alone the NBA finals?

I know Vinny is the butt of a lot of coaching jokes, but it seems that his teams do not underperform, they at least perform to what is expected of them, which does not always happen in sports

There are certainly better coaches out there, but I can't really believe that he is the worst coach out there.

Vinny will win games if Chris Paul and/or Blake Griffin carry the team. I don't think that's much different than any other coach. Vinny isn't known as being a great strategist, and many/most coaches in the league are higher regarded, but I think stars win/lose in most instances.

Wrong Vinny won game 7 using the bench.....A great # of games in the NBA are won when the 2 Superstars carry the team. I think Bernsie would call you a basketball tard

How do you rate Vinny versus Mike Brown on a scale of 1 to 10?

I would argue that last year's Clipper team underperformed, and yes, many people had the Clips in the WCF in the preseason.

Vinny is atrocious with his timeouts. Like so bad that Lovie Smith and Andy Reid probably make fun of him for it. Also his players don't show all around progression. Rose didn't become significantly better at passing, defending, and decision making until Thibs was hired, and then he showed dramatic improvement in those areas in a matter of months. Deng's defense improved to All-Defense caliber under Thibs and Noah's passing and defense are much better. Watch how the big guys set screens on the Bulls then watch how Blake Griffin sets one. Things like that are the easiest to notice when there's a coaching change. Basically Vinny is a bad clock manager and his teams play sloppy. From what I've heard he's liked by the players but that's about it for the positives.

Right, a bunch. Good coaches run a TON of stuff. That's the other easy way to notice if an NBA coach sucks.

Yahoo! Sports reports: After guiding the Clippers to a series win over Memphis, Vinny Del Negro talked about having to overcome damage to his reputation that he believes was the result of a lack of support from Bulls president John Paxson during his two seasons in Chicago.

"All that (expletive) that I had to deal with John and everything, it was a total cluster(expletive)," said Del Negro, who coached the Bulls from 2008-10. "Listen, I understand the business: I hadn't coached before, and my first job was in Chicago, where I had absolutely no (management) support. Then I came to this position, where history spoke for itself. But I knew it was important to keep working at the craft.

Funny, the word making the rounds over the past couple of days is how much his players don't respect him or his basketball thoughts.

And this on ESPN, home of the bs slobbering over that bastard/his mentor (St.) Jimmy V.

A couple months ago, when rumors were circulating about Vinny's job being in jeaparody, it was said that the locker room was very split on their opinion of Vinny. He's definitely a player's coach, but players were saying how they thought his offensive and defensive schemes were too simplified.

That wouldn't surprise me at all. I thought espn was reporting just a month ago that the players gave Vinny a vote of confidence despite the slump they were in. I'm not sure why the Clips wouldn't fire him after the season though, just because they won a playoff series. Whether his reputation exacerbates it or not, it's clear Vinny is a bad coach.

vinny is bad.... a smart player will listen to him and watch him draw up and a play and think"cmon really coach?" nice guy and i am sure players like him but they will see he is not smart and is only holding them back...he is gone after next season...i do think he improved from when he was here but anyone would..he was a rookie coach now he has a few years under his belt but he is still a bad coach...mike brown is slightly better but not much.

He probably sucks, but it's not like Bulls management did much for him other than lucking into Rose. Still no reason to bitch about it 2 years later though. I suppose giving him a job is something though...
