Spent a few days up in Lake Geneva and it is amazing how different the people that "work" seem to be up there. Simple smile, a Hello, have a good day. Generally an attitude like they are happy to have a job and take some pride in doing it well.

Yes, some of those places have trained them to say HI and HELLO, like "Have a Grand Day" while staying at the Grand Geneva, but the kids working the docks for the boats, waitresses at various establishments, ice cream shops, etc.

Just the definition of good people.

I like the LG lifers who prattle on about how terrible "those FIBs" are. When you remind them that without the tax revenue that "those FIBs" give them, many of them would have no jobs and the schools would fall into even greater disrepair and disarray than they're already in, they stare at you with the same benign blankness of the deer they hit with their cars.

 I had to go to Urbandictionary.com to figure out what FIB's stood for.

I figured it wasn't this, but Lipid and IMU will appreciate it.

One thing I am kinda surprised is how bad the food is in Lake Geneva. You would think a greasy burger joint, hot dog stand or even slices of Pizza would dominate, but all pretty crappy.

Where did you go? Scuttlebutt's has very good Swedish pancakes, but yeah, most stuff downtown kinda sucks. Popeye's is bad. Chicago Pizza is real bad.

Fucking Illinois Bastards.

Also, just so you know, most hotels actually import their service desk people from other parts of the country. Odds are you didnt talk to a true Wisconsite.

Mrs. Newper and I are thinking of going up this summer for a few days at the waterpark owned by the Grand Geneva -- they have a pay for 2 days get the 3rd free thing going on. Seems like it might be less overpriced than the Dells and have just as much stuff to do (and less of a car ride, etc.)

Wisconsin Dells is the chintziest shit. If you're vacationing there, you'd better be doing so in a wood-paneled station wagon. Here's the Dells:

I went to Noah's Ark once. I got a splinter in my finger from leaning against a railing and I stood in line a lot. Kinda sucked!

I went to the Tommy Bartlett Water Show back in 2000. All they did was run jet-skis up ramps and then fall off them. It was more like the Harry Teinowitz Water Show, if you ask me.

Exactly why they view us as FIBS.

People outside of big cities are generally a lot more laid back then people that live in big cities. Not really surprising.

Wasn't surprised but it s still impressive all these people understand and seem to appreciate the ILLINIOISIANS spending on the freshly made Fudge!

Actually didnt walk past the Fudge Place, assuming it was still there, but we did sit down at the Harborside and walked oout after 20 minutes of no service, not even a menu. Didnt look like an owner was there and they just didnt have enough people to serve the crowds, but yet the waitresses still spent most of the time apologizing.

I have been going up to Wisconsin (Waushara County and Ho Chunk) for various vacations and weekends at least 3 times a year for over 20 years. While I may catch some gentle abuse if I am wearing cubs or bears wear at the golf course or bar no one has ever seriously complained to me about being an FIB or a Flatlander.

Oh me too, Retard. Im not talking on a bothersome or rude level. My brother has lived up there for about 10 years and he's lived in a few places and every neighborhood seems to have a guy obsessed that Im from Illinois. All in good fun though.

I have never quite understood why flatlander is an insult. I get called that down here at times. What is so great about hills? People here think of them as mountains  Take a drive out west and see some mountains you stupid hilljacks
