Your favorite? I am not a Sox fan, but they made Mags a legit contract offer and he went to a division rival. I would have lost any love right there. I never found him to have much personality either. |

I always prefer when guys take the hometown discount, and I actively cheer against them when they take the money. That is why I cheer against Pujols. Same thing with Mags. I thought the Sox were very fair to him. Not only did he leave, I recall he fired back at the organization. As a sports fan, that disappointed me. Now I am trying to think who my favorite Sox player is/was. Right now, I love watching Paulie swing the bat. |

It's a shame we didn't get rid of him earlier or we may have had multiple World Series titles. |

The thing with Magglio not taking the money was that he was hurt for most of 04. If he takes that discount, Kenny doesn't sign Dye. He only played half the season in Detroit in 05. The Sox don't win the World Series with Magglio. Good riddance. |

Magglio was considered damaged goods, if memory serves, when agent Scott Bora$ got him a new deal in Detroit. |

I just find it hard for someone to like him after all that, but for IMU, not being a Sox fan means he doesn't care. I guess it'd be like me cheering for the guy most likely to play bad so the Sox lose. |

Magglio was considered damaged goods, if memory serves, when agent Scott Bora$ got him a new deal in Detroit. Even more than damaged goods, Magglio and Boras would not share his medical condition (including some non US approved procedure in Switzerland) with the Sox while attempting to extort them for money. IIRC Magglio went on to play so few games the next year that Detriot was almost able to get out of the contract. I liked Maggs but like every Boras client he turned his fans against him. Dye ended up being the much better signing. |

Yep. Before he went to Europe for that surgery, that Sox had- at the time- their largest contract ever on the table for him. Sometimes the best moves are the ones you don't make. |

At the time, it was the Sox largest ever contract offer to a player. Fact. |
