Decent deals on beer!

$11.99 for a 12-pack of Modelo which is my favorite Mexican beer by a mile. Picked one up.

$11.99 for a 12-pack of Heineken which is a beer I enjoy immensely. Picked one up.

.99 cents for a Mr.Goodbar which has to be in my Top 10 Candybars That SomeGuy Enjoys list.

I just got back, can't wait for 11am to roll around so I can start drinking. Wife is out for the weekend, White Sox at 3pm, NBA on at 7:30pm.

Good Times.

Do the beers have time locks on them or something?

I got a 12 pack of Shiner, beef jerky, cashews, 2 tombstone pizzas, and a rare white sox broadcast down here today courtesy of WGN. Fixin to be a good afternoon. Hopefully Gavin doesn't spoil it.

So we are pretty much having identical Saturday afternoons.

Looks like it. Did you also foolishly trade your debit card for four hours of peace?

Nope. My lovely wife is headed to Michigan for a bachelorette party and she won't be home until tomorrow afternoon.

On her way out the door I reminded her, "Male strippers wieners can be in your face but certainly not in your mouth."

We'll see.

But it is so terrible. I'm just trying to look out for you.

You told him to drink Pacifico. That's not looking out for him. Thats like telling someone to eat pizza that's been sitting out for 4 days.

I think it is pretty much agreed upon that Pacifico is the best popular Mexican beer. Everything after that is just personal preference.

I picture you as a Budweiser guy...so I'm going to go ahead and ignore your future beer posts.

Not a Budweiser guy, but theres nothing wrong with that. Are you really trying to be a beer snob a few months after trying to argue taste is all subjective and not scientific? You never cease to make me chuckle IMU.

Anyway, Pacifico sucks. Saying its the universally known as the best Mexican beer just tells everyone that you've never bought Mexican beer outside of the Jewel in Schaumburg.

I did not say it is known as the best Mexican beer. I said it is agreed upon that it is the best popular Mexican beer.

Except it's not close to agreed upon. I'm not even sure why you would think that? Are you talking about agreed upon by kids from Shaumburg who just started drinking?

Also you'd have to define popular before looking even more silly. I guess its better than Tecate but its not hard to find several better Mexican beers at any decent liquor store.

Its cool though. I figured you're probably more of an expert on European beers anyway.

Amusing that you would try to reference age, as we are almost the same age, yes?

I quickly Googled 'Top Mexican Beers' and Pacifico came in either first or second on 3 of the 4 websites that came up on the first page.

I'm not the only one who thinks this.

I'm pretty sure we are about the same age. So why do you think you're the only one gets age/maturity jokes thrown his way? Think about it.

I never said you were the only person that likes Pacifico. There's a reason it's mass-produced. Somebody's buying it. I said its false and silly to say its agreed upon to be the best popular Mexican beer. And again, you never defined popular. Is that the top 5 selling brands in the US or top 25?

Thanks for referencing Google again in a debate here. It really is LOL comedy that you think a quick Google search catches you up to speed on everything. If you don't know enough to talk on a topic just let it be.

Guess who owns 50% of the company that makes Pacifico? You guessed it. Budweiser.

Who cares what people drink? I'm one of those people that won't bitch about people putting ketchup on a steak or drinking Miller Lite. If that's what somebody likes, more power to them. I prefer High Life or Coors Light. Those aren't for everybody, but I like them. So let me drink them in peace and I will let you sip your IPA or Pacifico as well.

Many of them are. But not close to every. Judging by your posts on beer topics in 100% positive I can find you a Mexican beer down here that you'd enjoy very much. Not all of them are light piss water pilsners. There seems to be a much greater variety down here in TX than I remember there being near Chicago.

Budweiser also owns Modelo and Corona...it is all under the same envelope. Your point? I'm talking about the beer branded 'Budweiser,' not the entire brewing entity. Again, you're so quick to try to "catch me" in something that you don't even think about what you're about to post.
You said that you are going to ignore his future beer posts because he's "probably a Budweiser guy" which is almost always a shot at someone being unrefined enough to just drink mass produced flavorless beers because tv commercials tell him to. What is funny is that you are talking about how awesome Pacifico is, which is basically the same mass produced beer, just from another country, and made by the same people that make the swill known as Budweiser.

Now, maybe I misunderstood why you were looking down on someone who drinks Budweiser, but I find it hard to believe it is for any reason that wouldn't also be true for Modelo, Corona, Pacifico which are basically the Mexican equivalents of Budweiser.

Basically, you come off in this thread as some guy that says "Oh wow. Mexican beer! Fancy! It's an import" and then thinks it's any different than a guy going and getting a case of Budweiser. It's not.

It isn't made by the same people, Budweiser doesn't control Grupo Modelo. They are a part owner. Pacifico is still Pacifico, and I wouldn't compare it to Corona or Modelo. Not in terms of how it is marketed, and not in terms of how it tastes.
They own 50% of it so they are as important as Groupo Modelo. You are correct that Modelo probably makes most of the decisions but I would guess that they didn't buy 50% of it just to sit there and let them do whatever they want.
immessedup17 wrote:
I choose my beers by taste, not country of origin or marketing style.
So you consider FavreFan's opinion invalidated because you thought he may like Budweiser?

It's still hilarious you think that Pacifico gives you beer drinking cachet. It's just your standard mass market beer, but it comes from another country.

There is probably some guy in Mexico named soyestropeado17 saying how awesome Budweiser is and anyone who likes Pacifico should be ignored because they don't know anything about beer.

Well, it IS a thread about Mexican beer, so the "piss" part is pretty much understood.
