Was walking my dog after dinner last night, on Grace street passing Francisco and there's a cop car pulled over. I notice a bit of a crowd and then I see the cops walking towards me as well as two upstanding citizens. The two cops and the two future nobel peace prize winners were arguing, I missed the beginning of it, but when I heard the one cop yell at the guy "you called the cops over milk? Are you fucking kidding me?" I had to stop and watch this unfold.

Guy starts yelling back at the cop, "yeah I called the cops, I gotz a receipt!"

Cop: "seriously, you called the cops over milk. get the fuck out of here!"

Future executive at fortune 50 company: "damn right I called the cops! Now do your fucking job!"

At this point I was hoping for a Rodney King-esque beatdown or at least a tazering, but instead the cops ignored him and went to get back in their car. I called out to one cop and asked if it was at least a gallon of milk and he started laughing and came over to talk to me. Started immitating the guy and whispered to me "but I gotz a receipt, I bought it with my link card!" Turns out the guy bought some milk and claims someone stole it from him so he called 911.

Was very impressed and disappointed with the Cops composure when dealing with this lowlife.

I don't think this thread is going to garner the reaction you think it will.

I don't think it will garner a reaction at all. Kinda had to be there and see it to appreciate it.

Albany Park! Wanted to move there at one time. Went to a neighborhood meeting. Scratched off the list!

Albany Park did a massive downzoning....courtesy of Dick Mell.

for those not aware of this, basically lots that are R4, which you can build 3 condos on, became R3...only single family houses.

This was a measure to combat the parking issues in the area.

Many of these people had no idea the impact of a R4 to R3 did to their land values.

Just today alone, the difference between the 2 is about $100K, when they did it , it was closer to $200K.

HOWEVER, those on the Board of the Albany Park neighbors all either kept or changed their properties to R4!

Addtionally, Dick Mell knew that most of the people did not understand the loss of value, but they recognized him stopping the area from evil developers taking more street parking.
