My wife's family lives two blocks away from there. I suddenly feel dirty for being so close to Panther last night.

Well, it is out in West Chicago (Rt. 59 & North Avenue) nearly an hour drive from where I live, but, at the moment - since they closed the one I went to as a kid (212th & Cicero), it is the closest outdoor Drive-In.

Let me add, it is very nice. Mostly families, and not a lot of drunks, troublemakers or riff-raff, so BRING THE KIDS!

Anyhow, we saw Magdagascar 3 and Snow White and the Huntsman (actually a good movie if you are the "Throne-ey" type).

We have drive-ins down pat by now, though; Brought the damn professional camping Air mattress, the tarp to go below, pillows, blankets, our own outdoor speakers, mosquito candles, prop table, chairs, coolers, snaxx, cigars, you name it!

The ride home at 1:30 AM is still rough, though - you don't know whether to drink caffeine and be alert for the ride, yet risk being up all night, or not!

Cascade is at North Ave. and Prince Crossing Rd, about two miles east of route 59.

True, I was speaking generally for the folk who aren't as Familiar.

Once you see SCOOBY'S, YER THERE!

Remember: Per the sign, "No SCOOBY'S FOOD ALLOWED" IN the Drive-in!!! (the respective owners hate each other).

BTW, it was a beautiful night, sky and weather-wise, and we got a pretty cool treat at about 11:35pm - a HUGE, lit-up, blue Direct TV blimp floated out of nowhere, passing overhead on its way from downtown to somewhere westward. Seeing the blimp at night crossing that dark sky was one of the coolest things I have ever witnessed. Pretty damn neat.

The blimp was probably down by Wrigley Field for Cubs Vs. Red Sox on Sunday Night Baseball, and was flying back to land at DuPage Airport.

Why would Scooby's hate the Drive-In? Why hate a business that brings hundreds of people to your doorstep every night in the Summer?

A few years back, Scooby's had some trouble with the health department. They were cutting vegetables and raw meat with the same knife, on the same cutting board.

I've always preferred Shaggy's anyways.

Just moved fairly close to it, it may be the only way Mrs Rogue and I get to watch a movie with our 2.5 yr old.

Scooby's refused to dim or move lighting which was damaging the view of on the screen for some of the patrons.

I've been to Cascade. I now go to it's sister venue Keno in Kenosha because it is a little bit closer and I can buy provisions at The Brat Stop. I love drive ins. Admittedly, the viewing experience is not as good as being in a theater but it is good family fun. Don't park near the back rows with the kids as the rocking cars and smell of pot is pretty constant.

What other reason is there to go to a drive in?

There were two drives ins I went to as a youth:

The one off of Columbus (SW Hwy) and 74th/Western.

And 31st and Cicero.
