It was a good financial decision to sign that offer sheet. He was fortunate that he doesn't have to play with Melo anymore. The Knicks sign who I believe to be the fattest point guard in the NBA and another one of the oldest who just got a DUI. At least in Houston Lin will be able to dish the ball to Omer. |

It's a no-brainer from a financial standpoint. I think he can be good game manager if he gets the turnovers under control. If they can somehow acquire Dwight Howard, this could make for an interesting tandem. |

The Knicks are stupid not to match. Lin has shown at least some promise and rolling out Jason Kidd and Felton probably isn't much worse than Lin's floor and certainly neither will be as good as Lin could be. The problem is not Lin's contract. It's the other bad contracts but those will be bad no matter what. Not matching Lin is basically saying "We are screwed and can't afford anyone for the next few years". Lin needs to work on his game, but you don't put 38 points on the Lakers with no ability whatsoever. |

Putting up 35 on the Lakers isn't that hard when you consider they don't have a PG that could guard a chair. |

They are going to owe Amare $23 million that year and he may not even be able to play by then.I'd rather pay Lin that then pay Omer what he is getting. |

Oh, nevermind. You meant with the luxury tax. I think they could find a way around that huge of a luxury tax hit. They may need to lose Amare, but Amare may be useless by then anyways. |

When you consider the luxury tax ($2.50 for every $1) that's basically what it will cost them. The Amare contract is insane. He's never been worth $23M a year. I agree with you. Lin has more upside than Omer does. Lin will also help you make money. Question is will Lin help create enough revenue for that deal to make sense in year 3. It looks like the Knicks don't believe he will. |

The Knicks have already used their amnesty on Chauncey Billups too. So Amare is there to stay. |

If I'm not mistaken they used it on Billups so they could sign Chandler. Considering the Nets took on Joe Johnson's terrible contract anything is possible. At 23 Lin is probably worth the risk but considering the cap hell they are in even Dolan may find that tag too expensive. |

His basketball people throwing stupid money at Amare made things worse. I don't think any of the other deals were as bad. Chandler and Carmello were going to get that money from any team with cap room. No team was going to pay Amare that type of money. He's not even a top 20 player. |
