What a speech by the widow. Made you want to go out NOW AND FIND A CURE!

Also cool class by Johnny Bench putting on a #10 hat.

Cubs Cubs everywhere all over Cooperstown all weekend. Couldn't shake a stick without hitting one apparently. Not that my friend was going around swinging a stick hitting Cubs.

He saw Wood and his wife, Tom and Laura Ricketts, Ryno and obviously Ron's teammates.

I was glad to see Ernie Banks looking better than he did at the convention.

Rumor had Ryan Dempster wanting to go to don't know if he was there. He pitched Friday so you'd think he might be able to.

Is there a less dignified group of "stars" than the 1969 Cubs? Brooks Robinson doesn't walk around in a hat proclaiming to everyone "I'm Brooks Robinson!", but these guys all seem to have an entire line of fashion to keep themselves relevant.

Keep wearing that hat Ernie lest I mistake you for Woo Woo.

WGN did a really nice job telling stories of Ronnie's carrer in Baseball, both as a player and broadcaster. The radio highlights as well as the comments from Pat Hughes and former teammates and co-workers in the booth were great. Great job by Pat Hughes in putting it all together very neatly. Listened to it on my way to softball and really wished I could have heard the whole thing. It was an exceptional piece and set up the induction ceremony very nicely. Great job by the Ricketts family too, in setting up events for the Cub players and fans to attend to really make the weekend outstanding. I just wish it all could have happened before Ron had passed away. He would have really enjoyed it.

Why would WGN feel the need to tell his story. Ronnie told his sob story whenever he could. His family made a biography of him while he was still alive. The Ron Santo story was continual in this city.

That's why it didn't happen.

inauguration

If undeserving hall of famer Ron Santo and his family had whined and cried a little bit more, I guess he might have been elected President.

I went to high school with Santo's step daughter. My buddy used to date her. The two of them used to break into Santo's safe and steal weed from him, but they bypassed the cocaine.

not that I'm aware of, unless he had a previous marriage before he married Vicki.

But, Vicki was married (or at least had a kid) before she married Santo. Her daughter Kelly was from a different father. Hot blond chick, at least she was last time I saw her over 20 years ago.
