For sticking up for Walter in his pre-amble to Eddie Payton's book. Shove it, Jeff Pearlman!!!

Even with two bad hips and being ancient as dirt, my money would still be on Ditka killing Pearlman in a steel cage match.

Fuck ditka. He was interviewed for that very book, which I guess he forgot. I like how he said that they couldn't pay him enough money to read it. That would be the first time ditka ever turned down money to do something.

Good book, btw.

This was one of the better sports books I have read, a lot of stories and info that I have never heard before. Certainly better than the regurgitated '85 Bears books that some people have put out there <cough> Moon Mullin <cough>

I didn't think Payton came off that bad.....he was a womanizer, not exactly a shocking revelation regarding a rich athlete or celebrity. Unless you thought Payton was on the way to sainthood, i don't think anything in this book should shock you. I don't think this books portrays Payton to be an evil man. He had his faults, like most people...he just had the money to make things happen.

Very well put. Agreed on all points. I never understood the uproar over this book.
