So like a fucking idiot I forgot my wallet and discovered it only after I got on the train this morning. So I as I'm telling the conductor I don't have my wallet, money, ID or anything, dude across the way says, "here I'll pay for him" and uses his ten-ride for me. Not sure if they would have thrown me off the train or what, but this guy really saved my ass. |

Wife is going to drive downtown with my wallet. That way I can eat lunch. She's such a good girl. |

She's got nothing better to do. Laundry, grocery shopping, and bill paying can be done tonight after I go to bed. |

After reading this, she's going to let you handle it on your own, and DB will see you on a rooftop earning fare while he shows his monthly pass. |

Don't know how many times I've seen the "I forgot my wallet / purse " thing go on with the conductor yet the person has their cell phone out . Different question is how do other people feel when they see the conductor give the guy a free ride when this happens then goes and punches the person sitting right behind them 10 ride or one way ticket. I've seen it go both ways where they are pissed off that you're giving one guy a break or they think the conductor is a dick for making the guy get off the train for not having the pass or fare. |

Funny, but if it were a chick that gave me the ride, she'd be sooo jealous. "Who was this woman?" "Do you see her on the train often?" "How old was she??" |

On Wikipedia's Missed Connection section.... Quote: Metra rider today on the UP-N Line heading downtown - m4m - 32 (Boystown) You were the guy who left your wallet at home, and I let you use one my Ten Ride passes. You seemed to be really thankful, and smiled at me very brightly. You asked if there was any way that you could pay me back. Well how about I get that ride back, where I'm the conductor and you're the caboose? Tell me what you were wearing today so I know it's you. XOXOXO |

People that don't have money for the train should be let off in Maywood. |

Forgot my Monthly and all my cash one day, fuckin' conductor told me he was going to contact the police to scoop me up at the end of the line to make sure I went to a machine and used my debit card to buy a ticket ( ). Luckily, some guy was cool enough to let me get a punch on his Ten-Ride (euphemism). But I'm still pissed about that shit with the conductor... |

I remember this time I went to a restaurant to eat and after I had the meal discovered I forgot my wallet at home. Fuckers had the balls to to make me call someone to bring me the money to pay for the meal I had already eaten. I'll never eat there again.

Generally speaking, people who have monthly passes do so because they take the train every day. Usually, the same conductors are working the same train shifts every day as well. If I'm a conductor and it's Friday and I've had the same person all week show me their ticket and suddenly they don't have it today, I think it's safe to assume they're sincere when they say they forgot it. Mistakes happen. But what does having your cell phone have to do with it? I keep my monthly pass in a completely different place from my cell phone. I don't really understand that part of your post. |

There are all kinds of bums who try to ride for free. Now if you are on a first name basis with the conductor, that would be an a-hole move. The thought of waiting at the Metra lockup until my wife arrived was looking like a distinct possibility....until my Knight in Shining Armor showed up. |

Frank Coztansa wrote:  Metra has a lockup? They have their own police force, so I wouldn't be surprised if they had a cell or a room or something. I'm sure they call the real police for violent shit. If you want to have fun someday, tell a Metra cop that he's not a real cop. |

No Brogue. Nobody should expect to get a break when they mess up. That's not what I'm saying. I'm just saying I personally wouldn't be offended if I saw a conductor give somebody a break, especially if it's somebody I recognize as an everyday rider. Conductors see the same people every day. For the most part, they know who's who. |
