So she practices hard and goes through all the scrimmages and Monday night was her first HS basketball game. She is a tough nose 5'7" (taller than Bernsie for sure) freshman swin guuard/forward lefty.

Anyway, first game she gets knocked to the floor and hurts hand in 2nd qtr. Takes a minute and keeps going. Third qtr ends up on the floor again and leaves game for trainer to look at the hand. Tells trainer I am fine goes back in and finishes it wincing a lot.

Last night after much swelling go to urgent care. Small crack in bone between thumb and wrist. Ortho and cast appointment today. Maybe 4 weeks. Her first question to doc as she is a lefty and right is hurt was can I still practice and drill for the 4 weeks?

Love of the game. :D

Not sure Bernsy would be able to come back from that one.

All the best to your daughter, having a son that has broken his hand and had to miss time, it sucks.

He'd just use his other hand to dunk tennis balls in practice.

On the bright side, you will not have to watch girls basketball for 4 weeks.

Let me clarify my response. Your daughter is really tough. Breaking your hand is painful as hell, the same thing happened to me in HS. I hope that she recovers quickly. From personal experience, she will be in a lot of pain for a couple weeks after the cast comes off, but I'm sure she will be fine.

That being said. Girl's basketball is absolutely brutal to watch.

And that is your opinion, but I am sure there are a LOT of mothers and fathers out there that would strongly disagree you. But you continue on in your little small feeble world.

I politely disagree .... it was clearly intended to be a 'funny' .... that's how I took it anyway (and, sorry, but he's right .... girls basketball is, in and of itself, not pleasant to watch .... if you've got a daughter or relative in the game, that's fine, but you're not watching for the athletic endeavor, you're watching them take part in something).

It's because of that episode that I've very occasionally considered wearing a mumu ... though it helps that I'm way, way, way into the "don't give a hoot about life" side of the pool.

I also thought about getting a dialing wand for KS for Christmas, but I figure (a) it's too small, and (b) it's not going to be used for its intended purpose.

Don't worry, he forwarded them all to me and I have come to a conclusion. It hasn't changed my opinion, I still hate you just as much.

From a self centered point of view perhaps it is brutal to watch.

I coached a girls AAU team a couple of years ago. I learned there was far more fun to be had watching girls hoops then there was watching most males of high school age.

And pittmike's daughter is a good example of why. I hope she heals soon and doesn't drive you crazy watching her sit through the down time.

Well daughter #2 is not happy at all. She had her cast from her broken hand/wrist was removed and it is all healed. But either due to the stiffness or just caution the doc will not clear her until he sees her in another 3 weeks. She has been practicing as much as possible with her team with one hand within the guidelines and was hoping to start playing again. She worked so hard but not sure enough weeks/games left in the basketball season. :(
