I wouldn't say I'm ignoring what happened. I'm saying that I'm not in favor of banning all guns because of what happened. That's an emotional knee jerk reaction that I'm not going to engage in. Don Tiny correctly compared it to our blind acceptance of The Patriot Act. We often give our government much more power than they deserve to have because of fear. They know this and are good at making us feel scared. What happened was a tragedy, and it's not going to be the last time it happens, regardless of what legislation is passed following this mass murder. That's hard to accept, but I don't think guns themselves are as big an issue as mental illness and out inadequate treatment of it from an institutional and societal standpoint. The media and media consumers in their country should share just as much guilt as any NRA member for making these murderers famous and guaranteeing fame to potential future psychopaths. There's obviously several complex, intertwining social factors and causes that have produced so many of these public shootings recently and everybody wants to be naive enough to convince themselves that if we hand over just a little bit more of our freedom to the government that everything will be alright. Sorry, I'm not gonna do it.

How o? i believe in freedom. Even though I am a Christian I think a woman should have a right to what goes on in her body,except when it is murder(third trimester),why not take it to full term then put the baby up for adoption I mean we have the safe haven laws?

God,I know it is hard for some of you to say it, gave us one gift he gave none of his other creations,freewill. We have the ultimate choice of denying his existence. None of his other creations has that ability. The angels who have abilities far beyond ours do not only us. How many of us do we see the lost and downtrodden on the streets and just walk past never even thinking to help only to look on them with disgust? Sure I get paid to ring that bell but most of it goes to those who need the help that is not coming from the government anymore. They told the private people and orgs that they would look after those in need ,yet they do not. They cut the money for those here who need and instead do frivolous things with it. Chus mock me it shows how shallow your soul is, McNown ridicule me,I still will show up every Tuesday and do what God lets me do,I work the food pantry,My pastor even chided others when he said I do what I say and I am the only one in the congregation that does that. I am heartbroken, but these things happen. Taking our guns will only embolden criminals to attack more. Why? They will know we will not have the firepower to defend ourselves. I am purchasing guns for my boys for Christmas because I want them to be prepared to protect our rights. #Truth

I would still like to know how the possesion of gun makes one feel safer in their household.
What happens when an intruder enters the house? Do you have time to get to your weapon? If it's locked away, is there time to retrieve it. If it's in a drawer or some easy-access are, will it still be there.
Also, does this easy access give family members a better opportunity to misuse the weapon?
