Chuck is easily the best anylist in sports. He has absolutely no fear in telling how it is and how he sees it.
This is true but he is also great because I absolutely trust his perspective unlike so many of the other former atheletes filling that type of role. The football guys in particular could learn a lot from Sir Charles.
The NBA guys just lay it out there. It's not just Charles, but basically the whole lot of them call it like they see it.
Barkley, Kenny Smith, Chris Webber, Reggie Miller, Brent Barry, Kerr, Shaq all do it.
Dennis Scott and Steve Smith are a little soft.
I wouldn't put Kerr and Reggie Miller in that group. Otherwise I agree. Reggie has a habit of going Jon Gruden when he's broadcasting. "I know you guys think I'm crazy, but I just loooove Jordan Hill's energy off the bench. I'll tell you right now, he can be a real foundation piece for LA!"
But their humor and camaraderie seems 100% genuine and that's why they are so great in the studio. Seems like the NBA former players are a more close knit fraternity than the other sports. I have no idea if that's actually true, or if it's just this particular studio show when compared with some of the NFL and MLB studio shows. (I don't really watch any hockey studio shows so I can't comment on that)
