Classic NT team. Kids going to princeton, 6'4" great athlete (Future attorney..lol) everyone can nail the 3, good defense, etc. My guy Fricke coaching, he played on teams exactly like this for my guy Rick Malnati.

Don't think I need to tell anyone who Jabari Parker and co are.

I don't know if Malnati still runs his summer euro trip where he takes 15-20 inner city players with 10 kids from NT to Italy, Spain, etc for trip to play hoop.

He might have this year and thats why he joined Loyola so late, as I can see the NCAA having a HUGE problem with this if he was an assistant coach at the time.

But in the past when they played King or Simeon a number of the players were friends already, so never really any issues.

Chicago State isn't that far for some to get to.

Run the picket the fence!

For the life of me I have never understood this arguement, I enjoy watching the high school sports and it is a very good value for the dollar. Had a great time in Madison this past weekend watching the state basketball championships.

Maybe it's just because my high school's basketball program sucked balls, literally--Bernstein would've loved watching the recruiting private schools from Kenosha roll in with big black studs putting dongs in people's faces--but I can't understand having any connection to a high school sports team after you've left. Of course, there are exemptions for personal connections, like your kids going there or your neighbor being the coach or whatever, but something about following high school sports after graduation is just so unseemly. You're practically the guy in the letter jacket, smoking in the parking lot.

I wasn't an athlete in high school, but I was a musician, and my days in the jazz ensemble were a terrific experience. We had a lot of competitions and road trips and footsteps to follow, all that same stuff as any scholastic activity, really. But do I give a shit what the ensemble is up to now, nine years after I've left? Fuck no. We always did the Essentially Ellington competition where we auditioned to play at Lincoln Center amidst a bunch of schools with much better school districts to draw talent from and much better arts funding, and always fell short. A few years ago, my sister told me they finally made it. I said "hey, great, good for [band director]" and never gave it a second thought. I don't know who's in the band. Don't care. I'm old.

Yeah. They give you a tenderloin, a salad and a baked potato, for
four-ninety-five. You know what that cost you after six?

As I have said before, it better be your HS, your friend is coaching, your kid or family member is playing, or just a big game in general between top teams with future college/pro players.

In other words, you better have a good reason,

I do think tonight is a good reason.

So if you live in a community and you are a huge sports fan, you can't go to the games unless one of the above criteria is met? That just sounds crazy to me.

36-28 Simeon at the Half.

Terrible coaching by Robert Smith.

Simeon on a 10-2 run, 1:30 left in the half and Simeon holds for the last shot of the half????????

Yes, Kendrick Nunn just held the ball until 8 seconds left and then they ran a crappy play which resulted in 4 passes outside the 3, Parker takes a bad 3 point shot and misses.

Matt Rodewald doing Play by play...WHAT YA GOT SHARK????????

48-37 Simeon end of 3

Parker is quite a pussy

Not sure if the guy was just so talented as a Soph, that his ranking as a top player remained high, but his shot is short most of the time, his elevation is not great. He is just bigger than the other players.

Will be very interesting to see him at Duke next year.

NT Down 5 2 Mins left

Post subject:  Re: New Trier v Simeon

NT had 2 trips, down 5 and didnt convert on either, after fouling Simeon and them missing the front end of 1 and 1's

Simeon up 9 with 30 seconds left

Moral Victory?

Not impressed with a Robert Smith at all. Way more talented Simeon team can't sake the white boys. Him as Illinois coach would be a total disaster.

FINAL SCORE

SIMEON 63
NEW TRIER 54

Parker hit all 7 FT's, great job for the #2 player in the nation

Their is more talent on that team than Parker.

I still am a fan, but Simeon is wildly, wildly overrated imo. For most of the season it was either fast break or get the ball to Jabari and watch.

BF, you're right about Smith(except on defense), but until he can't recruit, it doesn't really matter.

Disintegration was '89, I thought. Close enough.

"Lullaby" and "Lovesong" are awesome. 311 ruined the latter. By and large, though, not a huge Cure fan.

It was so awesome its influence extended into the 90's. I spent a great deal of 89 crying so I may have missed the original release date.
