Post subject:  HAWTHORNE!!

Yes, a somewhat dumpy facility in a somewhat dump of a neighborhood -- maybe when compared to arlington which I can walk to from home. Even the wagering machines are antiquated. Despite all that its familiar jockeys, a certain particular beer server and ice cold coronas and maybe a couple tri and exacta hits make it terrific place to spend a blustery winter day.

I miss harness racing there. I miss Sportsmans park too.

That place is so depressing even a tri doesnt make it great

There was a horse on Saturday at Hawthorne that won with 70-1 odds...I'll try to find the chart.

Unfortunately that one was not amongst the tris that were hit that day!

BF was right -- otherwise very chalky. However regardless of the payout I much prefer cashing a ticket from a live guy (even though he appears nearly dead) over stuffing more 20s into machines :lol:
