Would more night games have enhanced or curtailed Mark Grace / Kyle Farnsworth's cocksmanship after games? |

To say nothing of the fact that 20-30 something millionaire athletes tend to enjoy night lives. |

To say nothing of the fact that 20-30 something millionaire athletes tend to enjoy night lives. Which, of course, is incidental to the fact that they are playing during the day. Blame it on undisciplined "professionals" not on day games. Also, from what I have heard, Chicago is a particularly attractive location for away teams. They are undoubtedly partying more than the home team. A unique situation should be to the advantage of the team for whom it is ordinary, like the green monster or the old floor at the boston garden. |

Unless, the sport happens to have free agency and the best players prefer to have a work start time of 1 or 2 pm instead of 8 or 9am And an away team can get away with it for a couple days and go right back to a normal MLB schedule. Over time, the yo yo schedule is going to impact players. The Green Monster and old floor are terrible analogies. Maybe if the Celtics played their games at 6am and the Red Sox were only given clearance on 70% of free agents. |

I really don't know whats worse. The excuses for the Cubs or the excuses for Jay Cutler (which I admit I was part of) Bad stadium, day games, no batting cages, no advertising, etc etc etc. What is going to be the next excuse? Do you really think the daygames cause the Cubs to boot the ball around in the NLDS against the Dodgers? Was the lack of signage the cause of the total meltdown in 2003? No. The A's have by all accounts one of the shittiest stadiums in all of sports, and cool/bad weather most of the year and they seem to win from time to time. |

Is it your argument that the Cubs missed out on big time free agents because of day baseball? Is it your argument that, given their track record with big time free agents, that this was a detriment? Taking free agency out of the equation, how do you account for the years prior to free agency? The yo, yo schedule of having to work until 10pm some nights and then begin at 1 pm on others? For a person in his 20s? |

There is one reason for the creation and continuation of night games, attendance/viewership. |

The Cubs have been a historically poorly managed team. They've earned every loss themselves. My feeling is, when you havent won a world series in 104 years, you should probably not handicap yourself in anyway. Advertisements dont matter. Batting cages probably dont matter (although better facilities help) I think the day game is a small disadvantage Does this seem like a team that can overcome even the tiniest disadvantage? |

good dolphin wrote: "The roster wins games; the stadium doesn't win games." But a new stadium that includes signage and can bring in additional revenue, can help build a better roster, as the team would have more money to spend. Spending a bunch of money is no guarantee of success. But being a low payroll team is almost a guarantee that a team will not contend. There are exceptions, but most playoff teams are amongst the higher spending teams. When the team is ready to contend and they want to add the last pieces needed, they need for the streams of revenue to be there. |

Most players love the day games. Let's them have a normal life if they want. Party or spend time with the family. Your choice. ------ 99% of these new revenue streams will wind up in the Ricketts' bank account. |

I thought I read something saying the Giants play the most day games. I tried to do a quick search but couldn't find anything and I can't remember where I read that. Looks like I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue. |

There are batting cages at Wrigley field. they are located under the left field bleachers. Are they state of the art?...no, but they have batting cages. There was no total meltdown in 2003. They had a great season, beat the Braves in the NLDS and went 7 games in the NLCS against the eventual World Serie winners (Marlins). There was an incident with a fan that kept Moises Alou from having a chance at a pop fly down the left field line, that was followed by a missed ground ball by the SS (Gonzalez) and the Marlins took advantage. A meltdown is more like what the White Sox did last season down the stretch. |

The White Sox had to play a night game last night, in the cold, then fly to KC to play tonite. You don't think they would rather have played a day game yesterday? Teams get screwed with schedule all year. So the Cubs play day games, big deal. My logic of X, is very similar to what Rickets and Theo are trying to have Cubs fans believe. X in this case = new facilities and night games. Ricketts is saying that when the Cubs get X, they will win. My question is if the Cubs get X, when they still don't win what will the excuse be? I think both him and Theo are in over their heads bigtime and this thing is turning into a trainwreck real fast. |

Steve. You are something else. 'arps, I think the daygames are a bit of a detriment, but not to the point where you can say the team is bad and has been bad because of it. |
