He comes off as a typical Midwestern meathead hockey fan.

This suspension is typical garbage from the sewers below the NHL headquarters. It seemed to me like the Ducks’ Corey Perry tried to cut Jimmy Howard with his skate, yet Perry plays on.
Don't know how everyone feels, but I think they have actually been mostly right on suspensions this year and even for the most part in last year's playoffs. If anything, I thought the suspension for Torres was probably too much once you took the emotion out of it. Abdelkader left his feet with an elbow to the head, which seems to qualify for at least a game in my book.

By the way, the NHL network is garbage. What the NFL and MLB have done with their networks makes NHL commissioner Gary Bettman’s vision look like old school, black-and-white television.
I'm not sure what this has to do with the Abdelkader hit, and since I don't get the NHL network anymore I can't tell you how it is now, but two years ago I got exactly what I needed from it. After all, you can get so much information from NHL writers out there and I would prefer to seek out those sources anyways. It would have been a good opportunity for HUGE to say what the hell he expects.

The NHL's mindless cronies loved watching the Los Angeles Kings win it last year. The Red Wings — like most teams from Detroit — get no national media love or attention from the NHL. Bettman is hooked on the big markets. He thinks his sport should be on the same level as the NFL and Major League Baseball in the U.S. He is so wrong.
Typical Midwest mentality, "dem east coast and west coasters get more of dat attention on sportscenter!" Detroit is beloved by many and they are treated as such in my opinion. And I'll take Kid Rock over Wil Wheaton any day.
This article just goes everywhere and never really addresses the hit.
