http://www.suntimes.com/sports/20181411 ... range.html Chet nails the current sports radio landscape in Chicago: ‘‘Why is Dan Bernstein so hateful? In his heart of hearts, I think he wants to be Jay Mariotti. Dan McNeil should be flying solo — Matt Spiegel doesn’t bring much to their show. Carmen De Falco is miscast. He should be a TV anchor. If I were Channel 5, I’d hire him for 6 and 10 o’clock right now. Marc Silverman has potential — he’s more sensible than most of them. Laurence Holmes should be working in Evansville, Indiana.’’ |

Let's line em up and knock em down! Chets dime , chet's dance floor! ‘‘Why is Dan Bernstein so hateful? In his heart of hearts, I think he wants to be Jay Mariotti. -Bernstein is playing the shock jock part time. It's actually kind of boring and predictable now. Dan McNeil should be flying solo — Mac doesn't want to fly solo, he likes having a team and it's a good diea. Matt Spiegel doesn’t bring much to their show. -Woinder if Spiegs still considers him his radio grandpappy now? Carmen De Falco is miscast. He should be a TV anchor. -Agree Marc Silverman has potential — he’s more sensible than most of them. -Been saying it for a while, Waddle is lucky he has him! Laurence Holmes should be working in Evansville, Indiana.’’ -If he was lucky! I am thinking more Radio Shack. |

Alright... we go LIVE to the man beating down Bernsie. If you are around my age 46 and listened to Dahl and then Chet it was classic. I have to kind of agree he may have been cheesy but he was a pro and worked hard unlike B&B. Mac learned from this guy and it shows. |

I wouldn't think Chet would want the competition in Evansville. |

Who cares what Chet Coppock thinks of anything? The guy hasn't been relevant in 20 years. That'd be like asking Slapshot Ed about the current CSFMB landscape. |

surely, everyone on the air at WSCR is better at doing radio than Chet. It's gotten to the point that if Bernstein doesn't like you, you can't work there. |

The guy hasnt had a good gig in the city in a couple decades, and he just can't seem to figure out why. His whole bitchy sideshow is just sad now. |

I still very much agree with his opinion on what was quoted above. |

If someone wanted to give Chet a show on either of the two major stations in town, he would take it in a heartbeat. He's just a bitter dude who can't find a good gig. It's sad when people resort to something like this, and it was sad that he basically wrote an entire book and did the same thing. Maybe this is why nobody will hire the guy. |

Chet gets a bad rap. He's not nearly as bad as some here make him out to be. He's better at radio than AT LEAST half the people with regular shifts |

I grew up listening to his show and I actually learned about sports from listening to his show. I found his show to be more entertaining than what they are putting on now. What he spoke was essentially the truth and if you understand anything about Chet even when he was hot he would rip into the local talent So I dont believe that this all about him being a dittering old coot just mad because he is no longer relevant. When was relevant he would rip people. Does anyone recall how he used to routinely take Sid Garcia and Howard Sudberry to the woodshed? |

Chet should be on the airwaves. At least his show talked about sports. His show was also fast paced. I used to have a problem with his refusal to take calls. His show was guest intensive and you tended to hear from the same guys a lot but at least you were informed. He definitely would not have spent an entire show let alone an entire month talking about Penn State or CTE. He also had more of a personality than the guys that are on today. He also appeared to enjoy sports a lot more than the guys today. They don't appear to get enjoyment out of sports particularly the B&B guys. |

Let's not wax so nostalgic on Chet. The staple of his shows was to talk with assistant coaches in half hour increments. His shows were short as well. He couldn't handle a daily four hour shift with what he was producing. Chet's show had the production feel of the pre game show of one of the local franchise. Ass kissing, product placement and assistant coach aggrandizement were his go to items. |

M&H do like 90 minutes if you take out all the ads, traffic, updates, replays of interviews that weren't interesting to begin with. |

What I got from Chet was that he loved coaches and held them in higher esteem than the players. As if the players were just pawns. He'd frequently describe games as Coach vs Coach. Ironically, Bernstein seems to have the same thoughts on Coaches and players |

With Dan, it's less disrespect for players and more a warped syllogism of "if I say coaches are perpetually neurotic, put-upon geniuses who like basketball, and I'm a perpetually neurotic, put-upon genius who likes basketball, I could be an NBA coach." |
