Today, he became the first teenager to win a PGA event since 1931. I just happened to make a play on him at 28/1, so it's even sweeter. He earned it. He was tied with Zach Johnson and David Hearn after 72 holes, and it took five playoff holes to determine a winner. This kid is tough. He hit some poor tee shots in the playoff, but scrambled enough for the victory. Well done, young blood.

He won and I have been watching him for a while. Should be a sophmore at Texas, and is now on his way to a lot of great things. He was fortunate and played great in the playoff, he had at least 3 mishits, but battled his way thru. This won't be his last win and he may be the best up and coming American player.

He is going to win a major someday, and may very well become the #1 ranked golfer in the world, at some point. He is that good.

When Hearn missed that putt to win it, I knew he was toast. The very next hole, ZJ hit one in the water, albeit from a terrible lie behind a huge oak tree.

The kid kept his composure even after spraying tee shots.

I don't know if terrible does it justice. He was pretty much a dead man walking at that point.

I forgot what hole it was on but he hit an approach and as soon as he hit it he said "I hit that one about 90 yards". I kind of thought he was done after that. Glad to hear he won.

The last 2-3 hours of that yesterday was really fun to watch. For the life of me I have no idea how Johnson's chip in the playoff did not drop in. Sounds like a good kid and I wish him the best.

So pissed I missed the end. I was watching it in the airport when the coverage switched over to the Golf Channel.

Hindsight is always 20/20, but with the shots the other 2 guys had, I really don't know why ZJ didn't pitch it back into the fairway and try to play for a par. He should have been able to get his 3rd shot within 20' or so to at least give him a chance at a 4. As it was he sunk his putt for bogey from just off the green.

The ball was rolling too fast. A bit softer, and it probably drops.

I agree. It was going to take two shots to get to the green anyway, so why not take your third shot from the fairway, instead of trying to pull off a nearly impossible hook around the oak tree?
