Dan Bernstein ‏@dan_bernstein 2h How many #NFL games have featured a head coach and a referee who are both lawyers?

None. That's why this was the greatest game ever.

I am surprised Dan hasn't glommed on to Gary Fencik in some way. A person with a degree from Yale is something to be venerated and I bet he would be really smarter people than Bowen

I don't get all the Bowen love. I do LIKE Bowen, but I don't know that he offers any deep perspective that other analysts don't. Maybe Dan builds him up simply because he is a guest. I don't know.

Because of the immediate perception that the Yale guy is brighter than him.

Being the smart kid in the dumb row is a coveted spot to him.

Plus, too tight of a connection to Ditka-era Bears meatballery. Real discussion of that era might expose that the Bears were actually good at that time.

Loses the Ditka meatball narrative.
