He saw the Chiefs coming before anyone else.

Bad news for Jake Long. It may take a while, but ultimately #hubwasright.

Where is my pat on the back for bitching about throwing away baseball seasons since 2012 for 1 high draft pick!

You deserve a lot of credit for not being a cubbie nation sheeple jimmy.

Plus Henne is going to be the starting QB for the Jags in the near future. I think it's safe to say he'll singlehandedly turn the team around. He had a 100+ rating filling in today!

Gonna start calling Hub and asking about Horse racing because apparently he knew Alex Smith and Andy Reid were coming as well!

Maybe I will just ask him questions about the NEXT race, not the current Races

His point was they had enough talent to do it all last year.

I'm partly serious. I don't know if it is as bad as he seems to think but I do give credit for him demanding excellence and not blindly accepting a rebuilding plan that is at least 4 years towards realistic competitiveness with the others in the division. jimmy could look like a genius if the Cubs tank so many seasons and then become the Hendry Cubs again.

Demanding excellence?

You must not be familiar with the franchise.

No reasont to get into it all but were two years into Epstein's tenure. I think you'll find less confidence in Ricketts (4 years) from almost all Cub fans

Theo seems to be targeting 2015, though I would guess true expectations end up pushed back to 2016 as most of the "plan" will be in the minors at the start of next year still.

I can't blame anyone for being skeptical of a rebuilding plan of 4 years for a big market team like the Cubs. As a Royals fan or an Indians fan it would be easier to accept. Even the small market White Sox would make me pretty mad if they started targeting 2017 or 2018 after this last terrible season.

I think they'll start to compete next year. So that will be two years of rebuilding, which im ok with.

You think the Cubs have a decent chance of making the playoffs next year?

I think all this Chiefs talk is premature. Without having the numbers in front of me, I think the total record of their six opponents so far is something like 10-26. They get a regressing Houston team this week, and cupcakes for the rest of the season outside of two games each against Denver and SD.

Today he said the Bears would need 10 new defensive starters if they switch to a 3-4.
I don't get it. Why wouldn't the corners and safeties work in a 3-4? Why would you need a complete new linebacking corps?

I think someone else elaborated on this last week, may have been Bowen, but whoever it was said the responsibilities differ at the line as well as for the linebackers. Not sure about the secondary. For the LBs you need a stud pass rusher as opposed to a guy dropping back into coverage and acting as a sort of third safety. I realize that's only one position, but at the line you'd need to revert back to the Traylor and Washington days of the early 2000s, instead of Lovie's slim and agile DTs like Harris and Melton. I assume other positions need to be filled either because of schematic particulars of which I'm not knowledgeable, or just because some guys are just ineffective (perhaps Conte and Wright).

Post subject:  Re: Hub Arkush!

I mentioned this before. Isn't it easier for the Bears to go to a 4-2-5 defense with a nickelback?
It seems like a lead footed LB is useless in this pass happy NFL.

Because Very Smart Bloggers say so, you meatball.

I find joy in juxtaposing the opinions of the elite analysts:

"You meatballs, don't you know, you have to have the right personnel to run a 3-4?!"

"Why did Emery draft guys like Bostic and McClellan? They are only good in a 3-4!"

"You can't play a 3-4 you meatballs! What would you do with guys like Peppers, Briggs, and Melton?"

"Hey you meatballs, don't you know the Bears defense is screwed, because Peppers, Briggs, and Melton won't be around next year?!"

"The meatball fan doesn't understand there will be massive turnover on the Bears defense next year"

"It would require massive turnover on the Bears defense to run a 3-4!"

"Meatball fans think a 3-4 is a magic bullet!"

"The Bears defensive concepts are outdated! The team is locked into old systems because of the holdover personnel!"

It's really very amusing.

It is impossible to play a 3-4. Nobody's ever done it. Can't be done.

Post subject:  Re: Hub Arkush!

There is no inherent superiority of 3-4 over 4-3. You could make an argument that the more teams that move to a 3-4 the more effective the Bears could be by retaining 4-3.

Seems to me decent LBs are easier to find than decent linemen. But WTF do I know.
